Job Summary The Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing safe, quality, and cost-efficient methods for production. Production improvements include process development & documentation, tool and fixture development, line balancing, material flow delivery, part presentation, workstation layout, 5S, elimination of errors, problem solving, and automation implementation. The Manufacturing Engineer is also responsible for launching new products through process definition, safety assessment, PFMEA, process capability and validation, fixture/tool ideation, design, and implementation, prototype build, and production maturation. Significant collaboration with cross functional teams including design engineers, production, materials, and facilities. Management Responsibilities The Manufacturing Engineer is not a supervisory role. Essential Job Functions Conduct direct labor studies and drive manufacturing process improvement activities through analysis and benchmarking to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate bottle necks. Troubleshoots production equipment issues by deploying root cause problem solving and corrective actions. Identify, define, and design process improvement tools such as weld and assembly fixtures. Lead manufacturing new product launch including executing design and process validation activities such as supporting fabrication of prototype parts, assembly of prototype boats, and PFEP. Support autonomous manufacturing implementation projects and other process improvement technologies. Analyzes, evaluates, and maintains manufacturing methods and standards. Provides solutions to problems adversely affecting operator safety, quality, productivity, and/or cost. Create and update standard work documentation for processes. Assists in preparation of departmental budget including material, labor, equipment, and outside procurement costs, and operates within approved parameters. Demonstrate professionalism with all Premier Marine employees and visitors. Provide situational leadership in support of Premier Marine culture and values. Communicate effectively through all department levels to provide a clear and consistent message in a changing environment. Support Tier Continuous Improvement Boards to help facility achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvement goals. Other duties as assigned. The Manufacturing Engineer II position is located in Anderson, IN. This position participates in and contributes to process and product modifications, standards, and improvements. The Engineer II position utilizes knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes to develop expertise in increasing product quality, output, and cost effectiveness. Role Responsibilities: Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to improve production methods, standards, tooling, procedures, equipment, plant layout, and product design. Conduct studies for process and product improvements, including cost reduction and quality enhancement. Drive process and product modifications in partnership with corporate design groups. Achieve annual cost reduction targets. Manage daily line issues related to equipment and production. Review and verify accuracy of procedures, bills of material, and route sheets. Initiate engineering change orders per established procedures. Lead engineering projects through all phases, including capital equipment specification, procurement, and installation. Participate in product development practices such as Accelerated Product Development (APD). Conduct failure mode and effects analyses to minimize product defects. Manage test programs to ensure products meet expectations and customer requirements. Develop and update operating instructions for standardized and safe equipment use.
