Position Description The Product Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager for the Data Center colocation group. She/he works within the Data Center Vertical to design, develop, and document water chiller product designs within the scope of products manufactured by the Data Center team. This position will also be responsible for the development and transfer of technology from other Modine plants, and implementing modifications to existing outdoor cooling products to create bespoke designs based on specific customer requests. This position is based at our facility in Grand Prairie, Texas and is primarily onsite, with some flexibility for a hybrid work schedule. This position operates under normal business hours. Key Responsibilities * Design and develop special outdoor cooling products by implementing/modifying certain design aspects of a standard range design in accordance with new customer requirements. * Design and develop standard outdoor cooling product ranges and supporting documentation based on project scope, market needs and regulatory requirements for the Data Center Vertical. * Evaluate and design electromechanical products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer and materials. * Perform computational fluid dynamic and/or finite element modeling and structural simulation for the products. Interpret results and recommend design changes/directions to meet product performance requirements. * In-depth knowledge of refrigeration system, thermodynamics, heat transfer and related Engineering principles. * Familiarity of Industry codes and applicable standards related to refrigeration systems. * Provide support for existing products, including trouble shooting, root cause analysis, and implementing cost savings ideas. * Work with suppliers to identify alternate solutions for engineered components. * Analyze feasibility, cost, and return on investment for projects. * Lead efforts to assess product performance issues, strive to root cause and lead to effective resolution. Required Education & Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or a related engineering field. * 2-5+ years of relevant engineering experience. * Prior experience with refrigeration and HVAC system design. * Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. * Understanding of compliance requirements for refrigeration and HVAC systems is a plus. * Experience with FEA/CFD software. * Working knowledge of CAD, preferably Solid Edge or Solid Works, would be advantageous. The Product Engineering Supervisor shall have a strong fundamental background and/or experience in chillers, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and psychometrics. Four plus years' experience specifically with Chiller, HVAC, or unitary design especially those dealing with sheet metal is a plus. The person should have a working knowledge of Mathcad, a 3D CAD System, FEA & CFD software and Microsoft Office applications. The person must have strong analysis and problem solving skills. Support daily quality control procedures for body shop welding, dispense, fastening and metal finish. Provide a safe work environment Group leader for Dimensional Op Techs and CMM Operators Manage body dimensional control procedures - Understands and monitors A, B, C & E31 data and metrics for the body shop and drives the process to achieve metric goals Coordinates and analyzes dimensional data collection from CMM and Perceptron Vision Systems to drive build to nominal Provide corrective action for customer dis-satisfiers affecting GCA, DRR, and DRL Be a technical resource for skilled trades and production teams Support the maintenance & engineering group for all activities, including breakdowns & project planning Support production & maintenance for TIP, ISO & GMS Provide an environment which stimulates team member involvement and personal growth Provide customer support for Stamping, Paint and General Assembly Lead problem solving activities working with Stamping and outside suppliers to resolve process related issues You will analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes and error-proofing You will propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area You will keep regular contact with partners outside the work group You will provide direction to small group of technical employees You may evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment Manage dimensional PCPs and provide countermeasures for any open issue Host weekly Dimensional Wall Reviews with Stamping, Body Shop, and GA team members to review latest Body shop quality metrics and open build issues Present to plant leadership each week the countermeasures taken to reduce the Top 5 Body Shop GCA defects Ensure up to date gauge calibrations for tooling equipment Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor Degree in Engineering OR pursuing an Engineering Degree or equivalent experience 5+ year of experience in body shop tooling OR manufacturing dimensional processes Ability to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd) Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed Process validation experience with new equipment build, installation and start-up Broad knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes Well-developed oral and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment Ability to travel 10% of the time or higher based on business needs domestically and internationally.
