1986

Benefiting from these changes in the workforce of the developed world, Adia in 1986 reported sales topping $1 billion for the first time; the company became the European industry leader, with the largest share of the market in three countries: Switzerland, France, and Germany.

1987

By February 1987 Adia had operations in 16 countries.

By the middle of 1990 Adia's American subsidiary was reporting continued economic sluggishness and the implementation of cost-cutting measures.

1991

The company ended 1991 with profits down 3.6 percent.

1991: Klaus Jacobs takes control of Adia.

1992

The change in command of Adia became more complete in March 1992, when Macauley, the longtime president of the key American subsidiary, submitted his resignation.

1995

Modi worked as the National Secretary of BJP from 1995 looking after party’s activities in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

1996

The name "Adecco" itself actually came about back in 1996 when two of the world's top staffing firms, Adia and Ecco, merged.

1997

Adecco quickly went on an acquisition drive, boosting its United States position with acquisitions including TAD Resources International based in Massachusetts, and Seagate Associates, based in New Jersey, in 1997.

1998

As BJP’s General Secretary Organisation he worked to ensure the BJP won the 1998 Lok Sabha elections.

1999

The company's sales neared SFr 18.5 billion (US$11.6 billion) in 1999.

2001

2006 – Adecco announces a dual strategy focused on professional and general staffing.

2007 – The annual General Meeting of Shareholders approves the nomination of Jürgen Dormann, former Vice- Chairman, as Chairman of the Board.

2010

2010 – The acquisition of MPS Group is officially closed.

2011

2011 – Adecco announces the acquisition of US-based Drake Beam Morin, Inc., taking the worldwide lead in career transition and talent development services.

2012

2012 – Adecco Group announces the acquisition of VSN Inc., a leading provider of professional staffing services in Japan.

2014

History was scripted in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan on the evening of 26th May 2014 as Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India after a historic mandate from the people of India.

2015

GDP growth slowed from these changes, though growth had already been high (8.2 percent in 2015), and the reforms succeeded in expanding the government’s tax base.

2019

Many observers believed that this portended bad news for Modi and the BJP in the national elections set for the spring of 2019, but others believed that Modi’s charisma would excite the voters.

2020

In March 2020, meanwhile, Modi took decisive action to combat the outbreak of COVID-19 in India, swiftly implementing strict nationwide restrictions to mitigate the spread while the country’s biotechnology firms became key players in the race to develop and deliver vaccines worldwide.
