Mohawk Valley Community College is a two-year school within the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Mohawk Valley students may earn a career-oriented degree or a degree leading to four-year transfer. With campuses in Rome and Utica in New York, MVCC offers more than 90 degrees and certificates to its thousands of full and part-time students. Since it is affiliated with the SUNY system, students at MVCC who wish to transfer to such schools as SUNY Oneonta, Plattsburgh, Buffalo or Purchase may do so seamlessly. MVCC also has transfer agreements with Syracuse and Rochester Institute of Technology to which many students also transfer. Transfer degrees are awarded in Engineering, Business and a number of liberal arts and science-based fields such as Psychology, Education, Math, Environmental Science and Theater Arts. For those who wish to use their MVCC degree to launch a career there are associate's degrees and certificates offered in Culinary Arts, Fire Science, Medical Assisting, Carpentry and Medical Coding and Billing. Online courses are also available in a number of departments. Students at MVCC may benefit from extensive student services such as academic advising, housing assistance, personal counseling, transfer advisement, career counseling, international student services, adult learner services and support for disabled students. Student life options include on-campus residence halls, as well as a number of intramural sports, clubs and organizations. Financial aid is available to eligible students through such sources as scholarships, grants and loans.
