Participates in Root Cause Analysis investigations and coordinates with departments and clinical chairpersons for peer reviews.
Prepares incident summary reports and provides all necessary documentation for investigations and resolutions. Submits reports to appropriate regulatory authorities as required.
Monitors the risk management information system database for patient harm events or unanticipated outcomes and investigates accordingly.
Participates in the peer review process and ensures safety solutions are implemented.
Collaborates with on-site investigators and participates in risk management assessments.
Serves as a resource person and presents risk management issues for discussion and evaluation.
Identifies organizational risks through trend analysis. Prepares and presents reports to be presented to leadership regarding findings. Advises on the risk of current or future activities conducted throughout the system.
Collaborates with other areas including Quality/Performance Improvement to establish quality and safety goals; participates on quality of care and patient safety committees.
Reviews and/or drafts administrative policy and procedures that fall within the risk management domain.
Provide guidance and advice regarding clinical risk management issues, policies, procedures and practices across MVHS system.
Delivers educational programs to raise staff awareness of risk exposure and professional liability.
Responds to inquiries regarding reports and professional liability matters in collaboration with legal department.
Keeps current with regulatory requirements related to risk management.
Manages insurance claims in coordination with other members of the legal/compliance department
Maintains strong relationships with brokers, underwriters, and third party consultants as required.
Works collaboratively with Compliance department to implement a comprehensive internal audit plan focused on high risk areas.
Collaborate with leadership and cross functional teams to embed risk awareness into strategic planning.
Serves as a member on various system risk/patient safety/quality committees to offer input and provide consultation on risk identification and reduction strategies.
Partners with legal counsel to provide clinical knowledge an assistance throughout the litigation process to achieve resolution of incidents, claims and litigation matters.
Is available to field inquiries from our staff outside of normal business hours.

Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
At least 5 years of experience that may include a combination of risk management, clinical, quality and/or legal work.
Leadership, critical thinking and analytical skills.
Outstanding written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in a related area.
Paralegal, claim management or equivalent legal/risk experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements

Job Description
The Registered Nurse will work in a 14-bed labor and delivery unit, with responsibilities including high-risk obstetric care and attending C-sections. Nurses will be expected to scrub for surgeries and care for antepartum patients. Familiarity with fast-paced environments and high-risk cases is essential.
Responsibilities
Conduct full assessments and care for patients in labor and delivery.
Scrub for C-sections and assist in various maternity care procedures.
Provide care for high-risk obstetric patients.
Utilize Meditech and GE EMR systems for charting in dual systems.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Current RN license required.
ACLS, NRP certifications required.
Strong experience in high-risk obstetrics is necessary.

Job Description
Reporting to the Asst. Dean/Director of Simulation & Nursing Informatics, the Simulation Coordinator is responsible for the management of simulation lab tasks including but not limited to inventory, preparing for simulation and clinical skills sessions, scheduling the use of the simulation lab, conducting open labs and simulations that meet the needs of the college, ensuring all supplies and equipment are returned after use. In collaboration with the Director of Simulation & Nursing Informatics, provides clinical, educational, and technical expertise in the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based clinical nursing activities across all levels and programs.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Executes the educational, technical, and operational aspects of all human patient simulators and all clinical simulation experiences for faculty and students
Trains and acts as a resource to faculty and students in simulation and other electronic/technical components of the simulation curriculum
Collaborates and assists the Director of Simulation with faculty in the development and assessment of simulated clinical scenarios to meet course learning objectives
Assists the Director of Simulation in the development, implementation, enforcement, and maintenance of safety policies and procedures for the simulation laboratories
Performs demonstrations on the use and operation of simulators
Compiles and maintains evaluation data on all simulated clinical experiences
Coordinates equipment maintenance schedules, maintains liaison with simulator companies to ensure reliable operation of equipment
Maintains currency in nursing simulation technology and trends
Helps to maintain all nursing laboratories and storage areas
Administrative support for the simulation department
Scheduling and coordinating internal and external simulation requests
Completing required templates for simulation scenarios including room requests, supply needs, and required training
Ensuring simulation activities have all necessary resources such as supplies and equipment
Managing and tracking all deliveries to ensure all items have been received
Assisting with preparing the rooms for each simulation session
Operating low to high-fidelity manikins and task trainers for simulation sessions as needed
Flexibility and adaptability to work varying schedules and hours including a few evenings a semester is necessary
This position will require light to moderate lifting and carrying of simulation equipment
Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position
