The Nurse Manager assumes responsibilities in managing the operation and function of the nursing unit/department. Promotes the delivery of high quality patient care based on utilization of the nursing process and standards. Provides an environment conducive to staff growth and development. Is accountable for management of human, fiscal, and other nursing resources. Supports the values and goals of the Department of Nursing and the hospital. Works under the general direction of a Director or Senior Manager.
Core Job Responsibilities
Manage, supervise and coordinate the delivery of optimal patient care.
Accountable for the effective and efficient operation of the unit and staff including ensuring that orders, treatments and plans of care are being carried out in a manner supportive of patient care and recovery.
Ensure unit compliance with clinical patient care standards and regulations.
Coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures designed to improve operational efficiency.
Implement the clinical area's strategic and operational plans.
Ensure staffing and scheduling supports efficient, high quality and cost effective patient care.
Deliver a professional practice model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards that is collaborative, collegial and utilizes current trends and data in professional practice.
Consult and coordinate with other departments to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to care.
Rounds on patients with staff routinely. Prioritizes staff nurse patient rounding accompanied by attending/consulting physicians.
Lead or participate in change of shift/morning and discharge planning meetings.
Serve as a clinical resource, professional role model and mentor to staff. Serve as a change agent to facilitate communication and transition. Promote customer service in all interactions.
In partnership with leadership and Human Resources, make decisions or recommendations related to performance management, hiring, transfers, corrective actions, terminations, etc. Resolve staff issues and grievances in a fair, timely and consistent manner.
Ensure documentation of patient care is complete and accurate.
Lead safety and performance improvement activities.
Ensure timely, complete and positive resolution to customer complaints.
Evaluate staff clinical competencies. Develop programs that foster continued clinical development to positively impact patient care and career satisfaction of staff.
Monitor budgets and expenses and make modifications when appropriate.
Ensure the availability of supplies and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
BSN
3 years of nursing experience.
Prior charge or supervisory experience.
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competency in clinical areas.
Proven ability to lead, guide and motivate staff.
Proficient with EMR.
PREFERRED:
Experience in medical/surgical, nursing home or related specialty.
Proficient with Epic EMR.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
REQUIRED:
Registered Nurse licensure in NYS.
Current CPR certification.
PREFERRED:
Certification in applicable area of specialization.

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides and coordinates the care of patients/families and significant others in the ambulatory care setting by assessing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems, including evaluation of the patient's response to the care. These responsibilities also include patient/family/significant other education and health maintenance strategies. The RN is a member of a designated health care team and collaborates, coordinates and guides team members in planning patient care and achieving goals. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:

11. Prescription requests, according to procedure.
12. Communicates normal and abnormal test results in collaboration with provider including appropriate follow[1]up.
13. Performs therapeutic treatments and procedures.
14. Assist with procedures.
15. Administer oral/IM/IV/SQ/Inhaled medications.
16. Coordinates delegates and/or provides all other patient care activities.
17. Coordinates in-patient admissions and ER referrals.
18. Acts as a patient advocate.
19. Documents according to standards of care.
20. Promotes and provides for patient safety in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
21. Participates in the department's performance improvement activities.
22. Provides presentations to care team members.
23. Ensures all staff participates as a member of the patient care team, participates in daily huddles and attend
regular scheduled practice team meetings.
24. Attends in service and continuing education programs.
25. Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients, families and
significant others.
26. Informs and educates patient/family to enable participation in their care and decision-making.
27. Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and patient responses and outcomes to care.
28. Collaborates with team members to make the necessary changes to patient plan of care.
29. Communicates pertinent information and changes in patient status to appropriate members of the care team
and other health care providers.

Education & Experience Requirements

* Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current New York RN registration.
* BLS certification required (must be through the American Heart Association).

Reporting to the Asst. Dean/Director of Simulation & Nursing Informatics, the Simulation Coordinator is responsible for the management of simulation lab tasks including but not limited to inventory, preparing for simulation and clinical skills sessions, scheduling the use of the simulation lab, conducting open labs and simulations that meet the needs of the college, ensuring all supplies and equipment are returned after use. In collaboration with the Director of Simulation & Nursing Informatics, provides clinical, educational, and technical expertise in the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based clinical nursing activities across all levels and programs.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Executes the educational, technical, and operational aspects of all human patient simulators and all clinical simulation experiences for faculty and students
Trains and acts as a resource to faculty and students in simulation and other electronic/technical components of the simulation curriculum
Collaborates and assists the Director of Simulation with faculty in the development and assessment of simulated clinical scenarios to meet course learning objectives
Assists the Director of Simulation in the development, implementation, enforcement, and maintenance of safety policies and procedures for the simulation laboratories
Performs demonstrations on the use and operation of simulators
Compiles and maintains evaluation data on all simulated clinical experiences
Coordinates equipment maintenance schedules, maintains liaison with simulator companies to ensure reliable operation of equipment
Maintains currency in nursing simulation technology and trends
Helps to maintain all nursing laboratories and storage areas
Administrative support for the simulation department
Scheduling and coordinating internal and external simulation requests
