The producing level Mold Operator associate works under minimal supervision to operate injection molding machines and secondary equipment according to established procedures. Key Areas of Responsibilities: Produces parts according to procedures and standards by operating presses and by inspecting and trimming, coding and packaging. Processes parts according to procedures and standards for assembly by operating sonic welder, bonding with adhesives, and by coding and packaging. Follows established job instructions to produce product according to specification. Gauges quality of parts by detecting and reporting defective material and recording scrap. Lifting of up to 30 pounds and maneuvering of boxes weighing up to 100 pounds from a skid to a dolly required 10 percent of shift. Pushing and pulling of a dolly with enough force to move up to 100 pounds occurs 5% of shift. Ability to work with hand tools, a pneumatic cutting tool, and small parts is necessary throughout entire shift. Ability to operate a computer keyboard. Safety glasses required at all times. Exposed to oil, shavings and noise and seasonal heat.

Key Responsibilities * Prepare metal inserts for rubber-to-metal bonding, including masking, tumble blasting, sanding, and pre-baking as required. * Verify blasting equipment performance, maintain dust collectors, determine batch quantities, and inspect blasted inserts for quality. * Mix bonding adhesives, apply adhesive by hand, booth, or robotic painting methods, and verify coating quality using visual inspection and ultraviolet light. * Set up, operate, and adjust robotic painting systems (XY Robot), including programming, valve selection, needle setup, and air pressure adjustments. * Set up and operate molding equipment, including selecting programs, installing molds, adjusting mold temperatures, changing faceplates, and preparing stock. * Perform molding operations, including molding parts, checking durometer and bead height, trimming, and conducting microscopic inspections. * Identify and document nonconforming product and complete all required production documentation, such as Molded Process Charts. * Perform post-curing of inserts or molded parts as required. * Operate auxiliary processing equipment, including cutters, blasters, leak testers, washers, mini lathes, and reamers. * Conduct leak testing, rework leaking or defective parts, clean and rework components, and package finished parts for shipment. * Support general cell utility functions and maintain compliance with ISO procedures, manufacturing specifications, and quality standards. Summary:Responsible for assisting and directing activities in the Mold PM area that will deliver timely and efficient preventive maintenance and repair of production molds, dies, tools, and fixtures. Mold PM Tech Responsibilities: Perform work within the preventive maintenance program once a mold is finished running or after a certain number of cycles. Wash mold with safety solvent to remove varnish and build-up from the molding process. Replace bent, worn, or broken injector pins. Inspect ejector system for proper alignment. Determine if injector pin holes need re-drilled and bored to a larger size, and the existing pins replaced with over size pins. Worn leader pins, bushings, and all bearing moving surfaces should be checked for wear and replaced/repaired as required. Clean and lubricant moving components in open and closed positions to prevent corrosion and wear. Make adjustments as required. Clean all vents; inspect for depth, width, and land; if necessary, have machined to original specifications. Drain and inspect water lines for blocked flow and leaks; inspect and/or replace 'O' rings, plugs, seals, and gaskets. Cavity surface is to be inspected for wear or erosion of plating or texturing. Clean and polish mold cavity surface as required to the original surface requirements. Inspect mold base for cracks, hardening, and corrosion. Fit, assemble, and tighten all bolts, clamps, and plates to specification. Make repairs to hot runners and nozzles and needed. Work to close tolerances, ensuring quality workmanship on all molds, tools, and fixtures. Maintain consistent and effective component cleaning and storage. Maintain equipment and work tools by performing regular cleaning and light maintenance; adhering to preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; trouble-shooting malfunctions; and notifying management for machine malfunction and/or repairs. Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Qualifications / Skills: High school diploma or GED preferred. Advanced mechanical, machining, and troubleshooting skills all related to injection molding or wax molding. Must have proficient knowledge on tool assembly.
