The Tool Room Technician will serve as key team member maintaining & repairing molds and related equipment to ensure proper prep and handling for production. JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Maintain & repair blow molding molds to support prep and handling of the molds and tooling associated for production. Efficiently perform extrusion head maintenance.
Work independently or with a team, communicating effectively and respectfully within the team and cross-functionally.
Perform preventative maintenance as required.
Effectively communicate with team and/or production.
Maintain flexibility in working hours to ensure that production is successful.
Recommend changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the operations.
Work closely with maintenance on reporting and/or fixing any machine repairs that are needed.
Ability to work with vendors for mold or tooling repair.
Participate in and support continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant. Sustain 6S program in the production cells, supporting team members and reporting repeat variation to leadership.
Work safely, following all safety policies and proactively participating in the safe work of others and the safety of the overall environment.
Compliance to GMP, Food Safety, and Food Quality regulations as required by the company, customers, and/or government agencies.
Always be willing to help other support other teams with open tasks and projects.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
High School Diploma or GED.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must be able to speak and read in English as well as and write instructions & documentation in English.
A minimum of 2 years of machine operation or set-up experience (plastics or blow molding preferred).
Must be able to provide own basic set of tools and tool chest.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Demonstrated capability in basic math and measurement.
Ability to follow guidelines independently and work as part of a cohesive team.
Familiarity with basic business computer applications and mobile device applications.
Advanced technical certificate or formal education preferred.
Ability to operator vertical mill and lathe.
Ability to produce parts at tight tolerances.
Welding experience preferred.
Must be able to laugh & embrace Radius culture!
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and lift/carry up to 30 to 50 pounds.
Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms for regular tasks.
Must be able to climb steps, have a good hand-eye coordination, and bend/squat.
Must be able to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment.
Must be able to operate effectively in temperatures ranging from 60 to 110 F.
Must be capable of visually detecting defects, depth, colors, variances, and see objects.

Ensures reliability of machinery and equipment by completing preventive maintenance on machinery and systems.
Performs tasks including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
Reads and interprets equipment manuals, diagrams, sketches, engineering specifications, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Uses hand tools and measuring instruments to determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts.
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hand and power tools.

* Report issues with the QLC box/electronics
* Assist supervisors with shift planning and work schedule.
* Ensure that all pots are graphed and physically check for abnormalities twice during the shift.
* Investigate all pots from the lists and take corrective action when needed.
* Enter information from diagnostic and corrections in QLC or additional systems.
* Use QLC mobile and additional tools to look at pots when new issues arise.
* Follow schedule and make the vital checks on new pots.
* Ensure that all shifts complete all measurement and sampling.
* Increase compliance of process control for new/restart pots.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Reviews set-up sheet & process parameters, using the process monitoring log to ensure quality standards are upheld.
Manage IQMS downtime coding, end-of-shift reporting, cycle counts, scrap data entry, and resolving disposition errors.
Monitor IQMS in real-time maintaining proper cycle times and responding quickly to presses going down.
Enforce worker compliance with all work instructions, work orders, TWIs, quality inspections, procedures, employee handbook, molding shutdown and startup checklist, process discipline, and time and attendance policy.
Assists in preventative maintenance and or repair on machines, injection molding screw assemblies, molds, and other auxiliary equipment.
Completes mold verification, mold changes, and material changes.
Diagnose and correct problems, and perform process troubleshooting on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
Monitors quality attribute charts, ensuring defects remain below the upper control limit.
Completes reporting requirements to include, mold repair, equipment repair, damage, accident and injury, and production.
Conducts shift change meetings to include end-of-shift reports for production status of mold, machine, man, method, and maintenance.
Complies with three-point control, reporting changes, abnormal conditions, and worker compliance.

Science and Technology Corporation (STC) is seeking a full time Composite Technician in the Manufacturing Applications Branch (MAB) at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC). We are in search of a highly skilled and motivated individual to perform a role in aerospace composite
fabrication. This role is versatile, covering all facets of composite fabrication to include epoxy
resins, fiberglass and carbon fiber fabrication, bonded connections, and space flight assembly
practices. If you enjoy manufacturing one-of-a-kind hardware, working to tight tolerances,
strong focus on quality, extreme attention to detail, you are likely the candidate we are looking
for.
Primary Duties:
Fabricate custom, composite hardware utilizing industry composite layup processes for manufacturing composite test articles and flight hardware.
Experience with resins such as (West System, Loctite, Hysol), adhesives, impregnated materials (Carbon fiber, Kevlar, Fiberglass), dry Carbon Fiber, fiberglass and Kevlar, woven fabrics, resin in-fused systems, and Rohacell core /Hex Honeycomb core/Aluminum core.
Experience with foam molds, release agents, Eastman Plycutters, cut and shape composite final parts, industrial woodshop tooling, vacuum bagging and pump systems bagging parts to be cured in ovens and autoclaves, and fabrication of advanced composite structures.
Trims, drills, grind, sands, and finishes cured parts to specifications, using templates, fixtures, hand tools, power tools, and calipers, micrometers, and precision scales.
Adherence to Foreign Object Debris (FOD) standards and complies with NASA regulations, customer requirements, and company specifications.
Possess good communication skills both oral and written.
Keen ability to read and understand detailed, manufacturing work orders, engineering process instructions and drawings.
Able to perform tabbing and bonding following LaRC Polymeric (training will be provided for certification) to include respirator fit and surface preparation.
Ability to pass STC and Government background check.
