Under the day to day management of the cytogenetics technologist II (CG II), the cytogenetics technologist I (CG I) performs procedural and analytical steps related to chromosome analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and microarray studies. Is familiar with current ISCN guidelines to describe karyotypes. Correctly analyzes neoplastic and non-neoplastic specimens collected from neonates, children, adolescents, and adults. Applies the principles, theories, and techniques of cytogenetics to produce accurate and reliable results that aid the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Ensures sample suitability and stability. Maintains and ensures functionality, including stocking of reagents and running necessary controls and calibration of laboratory instruments/equipment. Trains new staff and students. Maintains lab in constant inspection ready state. Follows and enforces safety and regulatory compliance. Explores new methodologies and implements new tests as appropriate. Processes and sends out genetic testing not performed in-house.

Creates and maintains a respectful, professional working environment.
* Performs minor simple repairs and cleans equipment to maintain good working order; collaborates with Facilities for repairs; maintains bio hazardous materials in accordance with policy to ensure safety; organizes and labels supply storage; ensures availability of supplies for students and faculty; monitors and maintains records of supplies used and needed; assures practices are in accordance with requirements for pharmacy license approval; maintains confidentiality of student information.

Requirements:

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, performs delegated duties to assist in the treatment and care of the patient in accordance with the established FMC policies, procedures and guidelines. Will perform blood draws, EKG, and Holter/Event monitor placement.
Provides personal care which includes bathing, feeding, skin and mouth care, and changing bed linens as needed.
Responds to call lights promptly, makes frequent rounds and attempts to meet patient needs.
Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, weight and height.
Perform Ekgs
Holter monitor and event monitor application as needed.
Empties patient drainage containers and maintains accurate intake and output records.
Collects specimens and delivers them to the requested area.
Performs venous and capillary collections as ordered regardless of patient age.
Performs order entry and specimen processing to ensure sample integrity and proper patient identification.
Performs point of care testing following policy and procedure.
Transports patients in a safe manner following policy and procedures.
Assists with pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative care which includes positioning, lifting, turning, etc.
Reports changes observed in condition or behavior of patient.
Assists with treatment procedures.
Assists in maintaining supplies and reports malfunctioning equipment.

Lorain County Community College (LCCC) is hiring a Part-Time Fab Lab Laboratory Instructional Assistant (LIA). The LCCC Super Fab Lab is a digital maker space that is part of a global network. The Fab Lab enables users to create physical objects directly from digital designs using computer-controlled tools. The lab offers lasers for cutting & engraving, vinyl cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers, electronics workbenches, and more. It serves a diverse user base through courses, open lab hours that are available to the public, camps, workshops, and community outreach activities.
Reporting to the Coordinator(s) of the Fab Lab, the LIA will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Inspire, train, and support users of all ages and experience levels during credit courses, open lab, and other lab related activities.
Assess user needs and adapt instruction to support their learning of the tools, software, and fabrication processes.
Enforce lab policies, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures.
Foster a safe, fair, friendly, and creative environment.
Help maintain the cleanliness, organization, and security of the lab.
Assist with lab setup, including preparing equipment, software, tools, and materials for all scheduled activities.
Provide tours, participate in community outreach, and work on projects as needed.
Help develop and refine lab activities, workshops, and camp programming.
Support equipment/software maintenance, inventory management and material ordering.
Contribute to project management and documentation efforts.
Required Qualifications:
Availability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, and Saturdays.
Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Windows OS, file management, and word processing.
Ability to learn and operate digital fabrication equipment and associated software.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in a diverse, educational setting.
Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of identifying tasks beyond assigned duties.
