Mechanical Technology Specialist
Momentive Quartz Technologies is seeking qualified candidates to conduct routine analytical testing of high-purity sand and quartz samples in its analytical laboratory. The Analytical Technician will be responsible for daily operations and quality testing of samples in the laboratory.
Responsibilities
Independently conduct experiments and procedures with minimal oversight.
Capable of managing experimental setups and data collection with limited supervision.
Maintain/complete test logs, repeatability studies, and test data
Effectively communicate findings to engineers and scientists
Efficiently performs routine and complex experiments while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely to minimize downtime.
Install mechanical systems and equipment according to specifications and blueprints.
Responsible for sample preparation and testing, instrument and equipment calibration Responsible for quartz sample cutting and polishing
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all company EHS procedures
Basic Qualifications:
Associate's degree (AS)
2+ years hands on experience in contributing role
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and operations
Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic and calibration equipment.
Ability to work as a solid contributor within a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. in Mechanical, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or related field
Supports R&D efforts by executing experimental tasks and documenting results under expert guidance.
Experienced in using tools like Excel to collect, interpret and visualize data.
Knowledge of handling and working in high purity environment
Understanding of Continuous Improvement/5S/LEAN 6-Sigma a plus

Commercial Operations Specialist
The Commercial Operations Specialist is pivotal in ensuring data integrity across our global business operations. This role focuses on implementing data best practices, establishing a data governance framework, driving data quality control, and developing data management policies. Job Summary
The Production Operator will blend and mix dry raw materials to meet specifications as finished product in the monolithics department. The operator must be cross functional and able to cover all jobs / workstations within the department, as well as operations within the shipping department and lance department.
This is considered a safety sensitive position therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required.
*This will start as a temporary hire with the opportunity to move to a fulltime position
Responsibilities
Monolithics Operator
:
Follow established procedure for startup and shutdown of equipment.
Drive and operate forklift
Operate the control system for blending and mixing via the HMI
Monitor the product and feed bin levels and adjust as required
Add micro ingredients from small bags
Add minor ingredients at manual dump station
Untie overhead bags as they are hung over bins
Use pry bar and poker to clean material out of bags and bins during changeover
Assist driver and driver assist operator during breaks and lunches by hanging new bags in overhead racks and removing empty bags from overhead racks
Maintain and complete all paperwork
Maintain area housekeeping and safety
Bag and Wrapper
:
Prior to bagging, label each bag with the product label
Place bag onto overhead Chantland spout and hang all straps on the overhead hooks and fill up the bag with product
Check bag weight periodically to ensure the bag weight is accurate.
Using a fork truck, move the pallet to the stretch wrapper and stretch wrap the pallet.
Move the full pallet to the stock room using a fork truck.
Take a sample from the product bag as directed from QA
Lock out mixers and sweep clean during changeover
Complete daily and weekly 5s activities
Maintain area housekeeping and safety
Monitor dust collector and hopper for issues and notify supervisor when it needs picked up
Miscellaneous
:
Record pertinent labor and/or production information from the work shift.
Assist all other operators to maintain operations
Complete safety inspection sheets for work areas and/or mobile equipment.
Communicate with individuals internal and external to the organization, providing/gathering information as needed.

Operate sweeper to maintain appropriate cleanliness throughout work areas.

Responsible for recognizing out of spec test data and following hold protocol if batches do not meet quality standards upon retesting
Escalate all out of spec materials to plant supervision, plant management, or quality team immediately to prevent out of spec products from leaving the facility. Hold stickers must be applied at first failed test result.
Calibrate & operate all laboratory equipment including but not limited to: MDR, Mooney Viscometer, LECO elemental analyzers, balances, digital scales, ovens, furnaces, 2-Roll mill, FTIR, etc.
Record all test results on coordinating Excel matrices
Responsible for general housekeeping of laboratory including cleaning of equipment & ensuring all work surfaces remain clean.

Job Summary
This job opening is for an Electrical Engineer with a strong PLC Programming background. Working in the Application Technology department of Minteq which is part of the Engineered Solutions segment of MTI. The Application Technology department houses the engineers and technicians who design, manage manufacturing, commission and maintain Minteq equipment across three product lines including Refractory, Wire and Laser. The PLC Programmer will be responsible for building ground up PLC programs in Allen Bradley and Siemens software. The programs will be used to operate custom Minteq equipment. Minteq commonly uses HMI interface screens for operators to interact with the equipment and programming the screens will also be required by the PLC programmer. This position will work remotely and travel as necessary to support new equipment product life cycle. Most travel is within the United States and includes various Minteq customer locations including Nucor, SDI, USS and Cleveland Cliffs steel mills. Also travel to our manufacturing locations for Factory Acceptance Testing. Understanding of basic mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems involved in the operation of batch and continuous furnaces.
Experience with, or design of, quartz, glass or ceramic fusion processes including electric fusion, arc fusion and flame fusion.
Experience designing products for semiconductor processing equipment and familiarity with the semiconductor tool market.
Mechanical design using SolidWorks.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Flow Simulation using Ansys
Six Sigma training and/or certifications.

Quality & Process Engineer I Job Responsibilities:
Manage the site QC Lab. Conduct routine and non-routine QC testing. Maintain all lab supplies for the main QC lab and the production QC labs. Responsible for the Quality Analysts who reports to the Process Engineer.
Sustain the site Quality Management System to ensure quality of finished product and raw material.
Leads Corrective and Preventative Action documentation and response, including leading the site in the discipline of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Planning.
Maintain the systems necessary to ensure quality of raw materials and finished products; provide primary support for all chemistry/quality related manufacturing issues; act as liaison between R&T (Research and Technology), Technical Service, Marketing & Sales, and Production; provide guidance for department (Lab) activity and ensure it is within budget.
Point person at site for interacting with customers on issues with product performance.
Monitor and improve the efficiency and output of the plant, ensure the manufacturing process works at optimal levels, maximize the rate and quality of the process in order to meet supply requirements.

Collaborates on the preparation of engineering analysis of projects that includes preliminary design, detailed design, project cost analysis, life cycle cost analysis and equipment selection.
Assume responsibility for risk assessment, including hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies for the health and safety of both plant staff and the community. Apply principles of mass, momentum and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual, scheme, and detail design. Ensure that all aspects of the operation and process meet specified safety and environmental regulations.
Quality & Process Engineer I Job Requirements:
B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
3-5 years engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing facility. However, will consider recent college graduates based on school program and GPA.
Ability to work well with all levels of personnel throughout the facility.
Knowledge of process simulation software.
HAZOP Facilitation and PSM knowledge.

Preferred:
