Essential Responsibilities
Conducting In-depth Financial Analysis: Perform thorough analyses of clients' financial situations, including tax implications, investment strategies, retirement planning, and estate planning.
Specialized Investment Strategies: Work closely with the Investment Team to develop and recommend investment strategies that align with the client's specific needs, risk tolerance, and financial goals, taking into consideration their unique technical circumstances.
Tax Planning and Optimization: Advise clients on tax-efficient strategies to minimize their tax liabilities, considering various tax codes and regulations that may apply to their specific situation.
Retirement and Pension Planning: Assist clients in creating comprehensive retirement plans, including assessing various retirement vehicles, analyzing pension options, and projecting retirement income.
Estate and Inheritance Planning: Work closely with the Estate Planning Team to provide guidance on estate planning, including the creation of wills, trusts, and other vehicles to protect and distribute assets according to the client's wishes.
Risk Management and Insurance Recommendations: Evaluate clients' insurance needs, including life, disability, long-term care, and liability insurance, and make recommendations to mitigate risks.
Business Succession Planning: Advise business owners on succession planning, helping them prepare for the transfer of their business interests to heirs or potential buyers.
Customized Financial Reports and Presentations: Utilizing firm platforms including Orion and MoneyGuidePro, generate detailed reports and presentations tailored to each client's technical requirements, providing clear explanations of complex financial concepts.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that all recommendations and actions comply with industry regulations, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
Collaboration with Legal and Tax Professionals: Work closely with attorneys, accountants, and other professionals to coordinate comprehensive financial strategies for clients.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Stay updated with advancements in technical financial planning, attending seminars, workshops, and pursuing relevant certifications.
Maintaining Client Relationships: Build and nurture long-term relationships with clients, demonstrating trustworthiness, integrity, and reliability in managing their complex financial affairs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
CFP, CFA, CPA/PFS with tax expertise, or JD with estate planning experience is a plus
A Series 65 or combination of a Series 7 and Series 66 licensing are required within 60 days of hire if a CFP or CFA designation is not previously held
CFP or CFA designation is required within 3 years of hire if not previously held

What you can expect:

The Analyst in the Portfolio Analysis Group (PAG) evaluates portfolio positioning with respect to risk exposures and alpha objectives, provides portfolio construction and alignment insight, and analyzes performance drivers across a multitude of investment products and processes to deliver performance attribution.

Our Wealth Management Summer Analyst Program is designed to offer candidates the opportunity to work in various positions within our Chief Investment Office, Investment Solutions Group, and Merrill Home Office.
As part of the Merrill organization, the Chief Investment Office and Investment Solutions Groups strive to provide world-class investment strategies, platforms, solutions and support for clients across all wealth management lines of business (including Merrill and the Private Bank).
Through a highly integrated and effective Investment Process, they provide solutions across all product platforms and asset classes - multi-asset, equity, fixed income and alternative investments including structured products - through a comprehensive due diligence and oversight process for client portfolios. They also coordinate the investment strategy for wealth management advisors and clients, harmonizing and distilling market themes, identifying trends and supporting our client-focused investing approach.

Required
