The Monitor Group company history timeline

1992

The Monitor Group, Inc. was founded in 1992 as a fiduciary firm – and we’ve always worked for the best interest of the client.

2006

The practice was established in 2006, with the merger of Trigger and Foresight, two top veteran consulting firms.

2008

In September 2008 the company laid off nearly 20% of its workforce and closed several small offices.

In 2008, the Corporation for National and Community Service honored Monitor for outstanding pro bono service for its 10-year partnership with and providing consulting resources for New Profit Inc., a national venture philanthropy fund, as well as its consulting work through Monitor Institute.

2009

In 2009, the firm’s partners had to advance $4.5 million to the company and pass on $20 million in bonuses.

2012

Beginning in September 2012, the company was unable to pay monthly rent on its Cambridge, Mass., headquarters.

2013

The company was officially bought out by Deloitte on January 11, 2013. "The new combined practices will operate under the Monitor Deloitte brand, resulting in a new global presence in strategy consulting", according to the Monitor website in February 2013.

2017

2019

In 2019, the practice joined Monitor Deloitte, Deloitte's leading global strategy consultancy.

2021
