Unit Details:
UC Medical Center is the region's only adult Level I trauma center and Cincinnati's first Comprehensive Stroke Center certified by the Joint Commission.
The unit provides development opportunities to grow your personal, professional, and leadership skills through dynamic resources and education.
Our newly renovated department brings state-of-the-art equipment, SRU rooms and trauma bays, behavioral health pods, a more manageable nursing station, and a larger waiting room.
Responsibilities
PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY):
Engages in population appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
Safety:
The Patient Monitor may not leave the patient unattended or move out of visual contact with the patient without obtaining relief from the patient's primary nurse. The Patient Monitor must take appropriate action to prevent or reduce the risk of harm to the patient (i.e., limit movement, stopping patient from removing CMU equipment, pulling out IV lines, catheters, etc.) The Patient Monitor must refer to the Suicide Risk policy when caring for a suicide risk patient. Provide handoff of care.
Activities Directed by the RN:
Feed patient and report intake. Assist with/perform basic hygiene for patient. Assist with toileting. Assist with patient repositioning. Provide for the bedpan or urinal and report output. Ambulate patient. Change linens and tidy the room.
Physical Observations:
The Patient Monitor will immediately notify RN of: Changes in the patient's appearance or behavior. Changes in skin color. Change in breathing pattern. Change in level of consciousness or responsiveness, agitation, combativeness, etc. Any behaviors that might represent increasing safety risks. The Patient Monitor must document patient observations and activities on the observation sheet every 15 minutes.
Collaboration:
With the primary caregiver concerning patient observations, change in patient condition and plan of care for patient comfort and safety.
Self Development:
Performance improvement, continuing education, in-service for conditions of employment (i.e. safety, CPR).
Qualifications
Minimum Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred:
State Tested Nurse Aid Certification.
BLS and annual training modules for patient monitors.

The telemetry monitor technician has duties related to monitoring, reporting, and recording cardiac rhythms and changes in cardiac rhythm accurately, per specific guidelines. **This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.**
**Shift:**
Full Time Nights
+ Observes and accurately interprets cardiac monitors and reports changes in baseline rhythm patterns.
+ Documents patient data per policy under the direct supervision of RN/LPN or designated healthcare professional.
+ Provides support to RN by assisting with patient care, retrieving supplies from other departments, and delivering specimens or picking up blood supplies from the laboratory.
+ Provides clerical support and coordinates communication to support the function of the nursing unit.
+ Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills, including telephone, electronic, and in person. Relays clear, concise information uses courtesy and tact in relating to patients/visitors, employees, and providers, and escalates issues when appropriate using established protocols and the chain of command.
+ Attends and participates in unit/department meetings per unit policy and participates in required programs.
+ Participates in quality improvement studies and projects as directed.
+ Requires sitting for prolonged periods. **Education** :
+ HS Diploma/GED (preferred)

Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Building Monitor is responsible for monitoring and patrolling all areas within the health center; checking for potential hazards; enforcing building/NEON Safety Manual rules; responding to emergencies; ensuring the proper use of facilities; managing access/alarm control and reporting any issues to relevant authorities; and essentially acting as a watchful presence to safeguard people and property within the building. This role also involves monitoring the premises to prevent unauthorized access to interior and/or exterior spaces and serving as a resource to staff/patients/visitors each day.
Education:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Previous building monitoring experience preferred, especially within a healthcare setting.
CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform patrols.
