Position Overview: The Maintenance Senior Manager's responsibility is to lead maintenance practices across the plant to ensure reliability, maintainability, and availability of all plant production resources (production and facilities) with a specific focus on overall deterioration losses. Ensuring that people's safety and food safety come first, this individual is a confident leader with strong technical and communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships across all teams, including the ability to coach and empower team members to take ownership for driving out losses at all levels. Drive production and buildings and grounds support through tactical and strategic means. Tactically, this will include directing a skilled workforce to effectively troubleshoot and resolve real-time production issues. Whether that's by leading the effort with technical expertise, dispatching staff to resolve, or coordinating repairs with outside contractors. This leader will be adept at making quick, accurate assessments and providing the highest levels of support. Strategically, the Maintenance Senior Manager will succeed by managing multiple initiatives simultaneously to provide long-term solutions that resolve the root cause of process interruptions. The Maintenance Senior Manager position is a key role that interfaces with many internal customers - Safety, Quality, Production, Warehousing, Continuous Improvement, and Engineering. This position also leads or assists in the execution of plant projects, corporate engineering projects, and manages the maintenance staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the Maintenance Department in all aspects of their work, specifically through Gemba walks, one-on-one coaching, and observations.
Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, and monitors an Asset Maintenance and Reliability Plan that includes: Value-added preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, effectively managed spare parts inventory, a fully integrated and utilized CMMS System, Proactive Planning and Scheduling processes, and Standardized maintenance KPIs.
Lead continued improvement in teammate relations both within the department and cross-functionally.
Collaborate with other sister sites to solve problems and broadly share learnings.
Champions Safety initiatives through active participation of the EHS team and the Safety leader of the maintenance team.
Ensure all equipment and the facility infrastructure is operated and remain in strict food safety compliance.
Supervise direct reports: Facilities and Utilities Engineer, Maintenance and Reliability Manager, MRO Buyer, Maintenance Planner.
Identifies and drives maintenance process improvement opportunities.
Ability to utilize data analysis in identifying key planned and unplanned losses to direct plants' limited resources on top losses.
Implement and maintain standards for breakdown elimination, planning & scheduling, lubrication, Predictive Maintenance, maintenance information systems, shop tool/facility, and inventory management.
Supports plant and department KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
Accountable for overall reliability and availability of equipment and control of maintenance labor and expense budget within the plant.
Uses failure analysis techniques like FMEA to identify and eliminate chronic problems.
Develops and implements a technician training plan.
Identify Capital needs with respect to production, environmental, safety, building & grounds, and be responsible for them from inception to completion. Includes estimating and funds procurements, specifying equipment, working with vendors and outside contractors, supervising safe onsite work, maintaining budget, and scheduling with the plant production.
Education and Experience:
B.S. in Engineering from an accredit university/college.
Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in a food manufacturing environment with the ability to diagnose mechanical, equipment, electrical, and utilities systems problems.
Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, and other appropriate MS Office Suite applications)
5+ years of experience with CMMS systems
Experience with ERP systems, trend analysis, and data historian systems
Experience leading TPM implementation and/or AM (Autonomous Maintenance) and PM (Preventive Maintenance) pillar implementations
Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in a food manufacturing or CPG environment with the ability to diagnose mechanical, equipment, electrical, and utilities systems problems.
General knowledge of USDA, SQF, BRC, GMP, HACCP, sanitation, quality, and safety programs required.

What You'll Do
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of all machinery, equipment, buildings, and grounds. Continually monitors and analyze maintenance downtime and Production runtime data using local equipment readouts and online reporting tools
Coordinates contractors and outside vendor activities to meet site needs including lawn and snow removal

What You'll Need
To be successful in this position, you must:
Have a minimum of an associate's degree, bachelor's degree preferred, with at least 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience

Key Responsibilities:

Regularly monitor & manage inventory levels for critical spare parts, and identify gaps

Prioritize and repair safety related issues as defined by the safety committee and/or STOP Card program
Complete computer-based training on a monthly basis or when assigned
Compliance with all policies, procedures, and rules as established
Effective communication skills to communicate issues and solutions to cross-functional stakeholders
Consult/communicate regularly with all functional teams in the facility
Must be able to read instructions, 1-line diagrams, ladder logic, & manuals, and use meters, hand tools, and shop equipment

Qualifications:
Valid Massachusetts Journeyman or Master License
Minimum of 3 years of Manufacturing Experience
High school diploma
Experience with HMI equipment preferred (company will provide training)
Allen Bradley PLC experience preferred (company will provide training)
Heavy industry experience with electrical systems and production equipment required
Two or more years of experience in electrical maintenance required.
Proficiency in preventative maintenance systems a plus.

The Role

Maintenance Coordination and Technical Support: Provide technical support and coordinate labor performance for all maintenance associates. This includes managing schedules, shop schedule realignment to meet warehouse operations needs, general maintenance, and preventative maintenance programs.
Vendor and Outsourced Work Management: Oversee outsourced manufacturers' representatives and vendors performing work at the facility, ensuring all external work meets required standards and is completed within agreed timelines.
Operational Metrics and CMMS Management: Analyze daily operation metrics including down-line monitoring, parts requisition/purchase orders, work order completion, warranty recovery, damage, preventive maintenance, and time and attendance. Manage the facility's utilization of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), audit daily inputs, and monitor scheduled tasks.
Inventory and Asset Management: Monitor parts usage to ensure on-hand inventories are accurate and that proper purchase order quantities are placed when needed. Utilize CMMS reporting to analyze performance trends and communicate with corporate MHE for asset transfers and retirement.
Administrative and Leadership Support: Support accurate timekeeping for payroll, assign work in the CMMS, and manage other maintenance tasks as needed. Participate in Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings and assume responsibility for the site in the absence of the Manager.

The Senior Maintenance Mechanic reports to the shift supervisor and involves highly skilled troubleshooting and preventative maintenance, and repair of complex electro-mechanical equipment, including electronic controls, conveyor systems, production machinery, and support equipment. The Senior Maintenance Mechanic is seen as the expert resource in the plant that can fix all/most equipment and is responsible for not only executing technical work but also for teaching and mentoring junior mechanics and apprentices, sharing knowledge on troubleshooting techniques and schematics interpretation. This role plays a major role in ensuring the uninterrupted continuity of manufacturing and support systems and processes throughout the facility. Position includes an $8000.00 bonus ($3000 paid out after 6 months and the remaining $5000 to be dispersed at your one-year anniversary with Home Market Foods.)
What You'll Do:
Maximize uptime utilizing expert knowledge and troubleshooting techniques with electrical systems including power distribution, motor controls, variable speed controllers, robotics, automated packaging machinery, process equipment including pumps, valves, meters and mixing equipment.
Analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot to isolate the problem, determine (and perform) actions needed to restore the system to performance specifications.
Lead the diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment issues, using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to enhance equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Identify and replace defective components, ensuring high standards of machinery operation.
Participate as necessary in new projects to install or improve the safety and performance of existing and new equipment.
Mentor and assist junior mechanics, fostering skill development and troubleshooting capabilities.
Experience in welding/fabrication. May conduct welding (stick, MIG, TIG) and operate machine tools (lathe, Bridgeport, drill press) as needed.
What You'll Bring:
Ten+ years of maintenance experience, ideally including experience at an OEM or similar
Expert in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs of industrial equipment and facilities including working knowledge of mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and facility systems (hot water, compressed air, refrigeration.)
Experience in food processing required; experience with packaging machinery preferred
MA Fireman 2 License and/or Ammonia Operator 1 Certification preferred
Advanced knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic power systems, conveyor systems, or control systems
Knowledge of PLC's is required
