Job Function: DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a stationary engineering position involving the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, generating, ventilating, and refrigerating equipment. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a Chief Engineer - Stationary, Stationary Engineer - First Class, or, in the case of Monroe Community College, the Director of Building Maintenance. * Maintains and repairs auxiliary equipment such as sewage systems, kitchen and laundry equipment, hot water heaters, and electrical generators
* Observes steam, vacuum, water, and other meters and gauges to determine the operating condition of equipment
* Keeps records of fuel and water consumption, steam produced, and other operating data
* Performs tests on boiler water, condensate return water, or chill water to detect the presence of harmful biological or chemical substances
* Adds chemicals to boiler water, condensate return water, or chill water to combat harmful biological or chemical substances
* Exercises direct supervision over Assistant Engineer-Stationary III or Assistant Engineer-Stationary-Trainee, where applicable.
WHEN ASSIGNED TO A LOCATION WHICH CONTAINS GENERATING EQUIPMENT, THE INCUMBENT ALSO:
* Controls the generation of a continuous supply of steam by regulating the amount of fuel fed to each fire
* Operates equipment such as regulating starting devices, adjustment levers, and throttles to start, stop, and regulate the speed of pumps, boiler injectors, blowers, and auxiliary equipment
* Inspects, lubricates, and repairs equipment such as boilers, oil feed burners, stokers, pumps, motors, and associated equipment.
WHEN ASSIGNED TO A LOCATION WHICH USES TRANSPORTED STEAM FOR HEATING AND REFRIGERATION, THE INCUMBENT ALSO:
* Inspects the facility to ensure proper operation of fans and pumps in machinery rooms, proper reduction of incoming steam at steam traps, proper operation of refrigeration equipment, and acceptable condition of cooling towers and related equipment
* Maintains, lubricates, and repairs equipment such as steam traps, steam lines, pumps, motors, fans, refrigeration units, heating and cooling coils, filters, and associated equipment
* Operates such equipment as steam turbines, refrigeration units, electrical generators, and pneumatic control panels

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must currently hold the Monroe County civil service title Assistant Engineer Stationary, Grade II, or be reachable on the current eligible list for this title, or meet the below minimum requirements for a provisional or temporary appointment, if offered: Graduation from high school or the possession of an equivalency diploma, plus two (2) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam and refrigeration lines.
NOTE: Where education is lacking, experience in any of the following areas may be substituted on a year-for-year basis:
* (A) Operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam and refrigeration lines
* (B) Operation of a refrigeration plant

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a Second-class Stationary Engineer's license issued by the Examining Board of Stationary Engineers and Refrigerator Operators.

* Initiate and implement enrichment activities for EOP students, in concert with EOP counselors and other student services professionals, and in alignment with campus retention strategies for underserved populations.
* Develop and maintain contact with community agencies, transfer institutions, and other EOP directors. Complete transfer verifications for other colleges' EOP offices in a timely manner.
* Prepare annual EOP Summer Institute proposal in accordance with NYS guidelines and campus priorities; oversee the Summer Institute to ensure quality experience for participants and adherence to funding source expectations and budget.
* Complete all EOP reporting accurately and on time. This includes all NY State Office of Opportunity, all NY State Department of Education, and all OCC reports (budget, semester enrollment, summer, and final reports, monthly contact/progress data).

* A Bachelor's degree in a non-specific field and 2 years of experience, along with a Master's degree in Guidance Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field.
Candidates must also hold a valid licensure in social work, mental health counseling, or a related field. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated experience with case management, advising, and guidance/intervention services, excellent organizational, verbal/written communication, and teamwork skills. As the Chief Student Affairs Officer and the Compliance Officer for the WEOC, the Assistant Dean plans, develops, directs, and evaluates all activities of the Admissions, Counseling, Career Services, College Connections Initiative, Communications & Recruitment, and Registrar's offices, and oversees related grant funded initiatives designed to provide student support in compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. The Assistant Dean is responsible for enrollment management; developing and implementing a marketing plan and supervising recruitment and outreach activities to attract eligible students to programs; establishing effective retention strategies to ensure student completion and success; and directing activities to increase student enrollment in college and/or placement in career-oriented jobs after completing training.
