As an academic institution encourage all physicians to engage in research, but this is not required. We have multidisciplinary tumor boards in all areas of oncology with participation of surgeons, pathologists and radiologists. Responsibilities: * Patient Assessment & Management: * Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations on new admissions and existing patients * Formulate differential diagnoses and develop individualized patient treatment plans * Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, imaging (X-rays, CT scans, MRIs), and other relevant investigations * Prescribe medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with established protocols and state regulations * Manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions commonly seen in an inpatient setting (e.g., pneumonia, heart failure, COPD exacerbations, sepsis, kidney injury, diabetes) * Perform minor procedures as privileged, such as venipuncture, arterial blood gas draws, nasogastric tube insertion, and basic wound care * Collaboration & Communication: * Collaborate closely with attending physicians, hospitalists, consulting specialists, nurses, case managers, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care * Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing updates on condition, explaining treatment plans, and addressing concerns * Participate in daily rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and hand-off communications * Documentation & Compliance: * Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), including histories, physicals, progress notes, orders, and discharge summaries * Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission) * Discharge Planning: * Assist with discharge planning, including medication reconciliation, patient education, arrangement of follow-up appointments, and coordination with post-acute care facilities or home health services * Professional Development: * Engage in continuous professional development and continuing medical education (CME) to maintain licensure and stay current with best practices in internal medicine * Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental projects Requirements: * Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program * Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification * Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in NY State * Valid DEA registration * Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a PA in an inpatient setting, preferably in Internal Medicine or Hospital Medicine * Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills * Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and teamwork abilities. * Ability to work autonomously under the supervision of a physician and manage a diverse patient load * Proficiency in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic inpatient environment

Overview Maimonides Children's Hospital of Brooklyn is recruiting a full-time BC/BE Pediatric Endocrinologist to join its well-established Division of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes. Our Pediatric Endocrine service includes pediatric endocrinologists, nurse practitioners and a nurse certified diabetes educator. We provide care to a diverse patient population and representing a wide variety of pathology both in outpatient and inpatient settings. Outpatient clinical care is provided in 2 new state-of-the-art facilities. The successful candidate will have opportunities to have an active role in resident & fellow education, quality improvement, research, as well as departmental/hospital administration. An academic appointment is available. Maimonides Children's Hospital is Brooklyn's largest Pediatric facility with over 2600 pediatric admissions including 800 PICU admissions. We also have 900 NICU admissions, 6,500 deliveries and 120,000 pediatric outpatient visits. The hospital is a Pediatric Trauma Center, Regional Perinatal Center and a member of the Children's Oncology Group. We have a broad range of pediatric medical and surgical specialists who care for a very diverse patient population. Maimonides trains over 56 residents in Pediatrics and serves as a training site for rotating residents and medical students. Qualifications * Out of residency or practicing MD/DO * Graduate from an accredited medical school * Graduate from an accredited pediatrics residency program * BC/BE in Pediatric Endocrinology * Evidence of formal, supervised training or clinical experience as required for certain procedures. * Valid and unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of New York * Valid license to prescribe controlled substances. * PALS Certification * Valid DEA Certification * Demonstrated experience in area of specialty as set forth in credentialing requirements for that specialty. * Excellent English written and verbal communication skills * Salary Range of $220,000-$240,000 per year with opportunity for additional productivity compensation. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include benefits.
