PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grounds Worker personnel are required to perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, facilities and equipment of all MCPS property within the county to maintain a condition of operating excellence. Principal duties include but are not limited to snow removal, mowing, operating weed eaters, mulching, hand weeding and trimming of shrubs and trees along with removal of debris from grounds and structures. They also need the ability to work independently or as part of a team to maintain grounds and as necessary aid other personnel in the maintenance and repair, both interior and exterior, in carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry and HVAC equipment as and when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Valid Virginia Driver's License, obtaining a class "A" Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of hire
* Experience with mowing equipment including zero turn mowers, weed eaters, and farm type tractors
* Obtain a Fertilizer and Commercial Herbicides/ Pesticides Applicators License within 4 months of hire
* Possess a working knowledge of mechanical tools needed to perform daily service of grounds equipment
