The ideal candidate would provide guidance and direction to plant management and employees in all aspects of safety and environmental compliance. This position would plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate all site safety and environmental compliance activities. They would be expected to manage required training, recordkeeping, administrative processes, and regulatory and compliance guidelines. This position reports to the Plant Manager. Position Description: Provides proactive leadership and direction to achieve the EH&S vision through management commitment and employee ownership. Manage corporate and division environmental, health, and safety programs at the facility. Oversee the development and implementation of safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies (OSHA, MDEQ). Coordinates and delivers safety training to managers, employees, and contractors. Responsible for reporting, compiling, and investigating all incidents. Review incident reports to provide corrective and preventive actions. Lead the team in investigations. Assist and work closely with the People Operations Manager when dealing with Workers Compensation cases. Responsible for following up on safety action items. Oversee the company's incident management system. Responsible for site security. Initiates facility safety/environmental audits and inspections, identifies potential hazards in the operation, and takes appropriate actions to mitigate risks. Knowledge and experience with regulatory guidelines, reporting, and recordkeeping. Responsible for accurately maintaining all environmental, health, and safety files, permits, and records for the facility. What you bring to the team: Excellent written and communication skills. Strong interpersonal and coaching skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Must have knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously. Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. High level of integrity and strong work ethic. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or a related field is preferred; Associate degree is required. Professional certification (ASP, CSP, or others) is desirable. Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment where 3 of those years were as Manager of a Safety Department.
