Major manufacturer 1 hour west of Toledo, OH is looking for an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager who will be responsible for the overall provisions of Environmental, Health and Safety services, policies and programs. The major areas of responsibility include developing and implementing safety and environmental programs ensuring regulatory compliances, providing regulatory and technical support and training assistance at all levels within the facility. Emphasis is on the safety side.
Responsibilities include:
Plans, directs and implements safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance.
Oversees compliance with applicable OSHA laws and regulatory concerns.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Provides regulatory assistance, technical support and training to all levels within the facility.
Directs internal and external resources in response to safety and environmental compliance issues, enforcement actions, emergencies, acquisitions divestitures and changes in operations.
Conducts and/or coordinates internal/external safety and environmental audits to monitor facility compliance.
Logs and tracks audit recommendations to completion and assists all levels in developing corrective actions for audit findings.
Evaluates, manages and implements standardized programs and information systems that monitor, simplify and document compliance to internal, OSHA, TS 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and other regulatory requirements and permits as appropriate.
Requirements:
Bachelors in Safety, Environmental, or related
7+ years of leadership experience in Environmental, Health and Safety in a manufacturing environmental
Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
Advanced knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and enforcement proceedings.
· Knowledge of state and federal occupational environmental, health and safety and health laws and regulations
· Knowledge of workers compensation administration
· Effective oral and written communication skills, tact, diplomacy, and performance assessment skills

What you'll be challenged to do:
The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the Company's occupational health and safety system for their respective region (SE). The SE region consists of roughly 10 states. Duties include developing, implementing, and managing the company's health & safety regulatory and internal compliance systems, conducting hazard assessments, developing/delivering safety training, investigating incidents, and managing and mentoring regional office safety coordinators and other personnel as needed. The Health & Safety Manager serves as an adviser across all regional business lines and other functional areas and programs. This position is designed to be proactive and preventative in scope for the mitigation of work-related illness and injury.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
* Develop, implement, and monitor the firm's occupational health and safety management system, compliance strategies, and initiatives in respect to the region, and in conjunction with the Corporate Health & Safety Team.
* Oversee the administration of the Regional Occupational Medical Monitoring Program.
* Manage and oversee the activities of the Regional Safety Coordinators, including leading the bi-monthly meetings
* Monitor compliance with applicable regulations.
* Maintaining third-party safety requirements such as Federal, State, and Local agencies, as well as client-specific requirements.
* Conduct field hazard assessments, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures when indicated.
* Develop and facilitate safety training for employees.
* Aid in the investigation of incidents.
* Communicate effectively across the company organization from staff level inspectors to the board of directors.
* Research federal regulations and international environmental health and safety standards, and develop/implement compliance strategies
* Conduct workstation assessments and address other ergonomic concerns.
* Collaborate with other subject matter experts and functional areas (e.g., Legal, HR, and Insurance Departments) on matters of common concern.

* Eight (8) years of experience in health and safety management
* Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant environmental/occupational, health & safety standard
* Bachelor's degree in Science or related field, or in lieu of experience, four (4) years of relevant experience is required

The EHS Manager is responsible for leading all Environmental, Health & Safety at the Farmer Branch site. This role ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements, drives continuous improvement in EHS performance, and fosters a strong safety culture across both locations. The EHS Manager oversees a team of EHS professionals and partners closely with operations, engineering, and leadership to support safe, efficient, and compliant site operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, administer, and continuously improve EHS management systems, policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.
* Oversee environmental programs such as air permitting, SWPPP, SPCC, Tier II, and refrigerant management to ensure timely and accurate reporting to the EPA and other regulatory bodies.
* Manage chemical waste programs to ensure compliance with RCRA and DOT regulations.
* Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, safety, and health regulations, as well as corporate policies and site requirements.

* Lead or support emergency response planning, drills, and site preparedness activities.
* Perform site audits and inspections, track findings, and partner with management to implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Analyze EHS performance data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement against established metrics and goals (e.g., injury rates, workers' compensation costs, compliance performance).
* Maintain EHS dashboards and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
* Partner with Facilities teams to ensure building systems, infrastructure, and capital projects meet EHS and regulatory standards.
* Provide EHS oversight for facility upgrades, expansions, and process changes, ensuring safety and environmental considerations are integrated into design and execution.
* Support emergency preparedness, fire protection, and ergonomic programs for all site facilities.
* Lead and manage a team of EHS engineers and specialists.
