Emerging areas of focus include metal additive manufacturing, blockchain for supply chain, sensor integration, and propulsion test facilities.
Moog in Orrville OH is a global designer and manufacturer of high performance hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical (EM) actuators for nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, as well as for some of the most demanding industrial applications. Our naval products comply with stringent qualification requirements such as shock, vibration, low acoustic signature, and seawater corrosion resistance, while our industrial products are often designed comply with API, ATEX, or other customer specific requirements. Many of our applications are mission or safety critical.
This position is for a Design Engineer in the Design Engineering group within Moog Orrville. In this role, you will play a key role in the conceptual design, analysis, development and qualification of hardware used on military and commercial vehicles and equipment. The products of Moog are generally unique for each customer and therefore most new applications require a special, tailored design. Currently, most work for the Design Engineering group in Orrville is in the development of hydraulic actuator equipment for US Navy nuclear submarines.
This position offers opportunities to use a broad range of skills. Our site is relatively small, and you'll be expected to utilize multiple engineering and interpersonal skillsets, and you will also have the ability to tap into the resources and expertise of many other talented engineers in Orrville and across other Moog sites nationwide. You will be relied upon to work both independently and on a team of other passionate professionals like yourself.
To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
Relevant technical degree, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with 3 or more yrs relevant experience. Other education considered with experience.
Solid communication skills to engage with customers, program managers, manufacturing teams, and other engineering staff and personnel throughout Moog.
Strong, data driven decision making skills
Practical knowledge and/or experience with technical drawing practices and GD&T standards
3D CAD modeling experience
Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with military contractual requirements and specifications.
Siemens Teamcenter and/or NX software familiarity
Hands-on experience with hydraulic and other mechanical equipment strongly desired.
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
This role is primarily a design engineering function, meaning the nominal job duties will support development of new equipment designs. Design Engineers in this area will be required to create engineering calculations and design reports, CAD models, part drawings, assembly drawings, test procedures and support performance of on-site and off-site qualification tests. In addition, the position will require the following:
Professionally interface with customer and supplier representatives during project reviews and to resolve emergent technical issues.
Perform assigned engineering tasks within budget and time constraints to support project cost and schedule objectives.
Exercise effective and logical engineering judgement in all design decisions, provide organized and thorough technical support as required
Obtain a detailed working knowledge of applicable customer application documents, military specifications, and contract requirements
Successfully collaborate with internal Moog areas of contract administration, program management, manufacturing, quality, assembly and test to ensure new equipment designs satisfy all stakeholder interests prior to entering production

Salary Range Transparency:

Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer 3 is responsible for all phases of Wheel & Brake new product development including requirements management, requirements validation, design manufacturing phase, qualification / certification testing and initial entry into service. * Responsible for the design of one or more LRU's on a project or across multiple projects
* Works directly with the project team to ensure all program targets are satisfied including technical performance, Cost (NRC, RC) and project milestones (Schedule)
* Responsible for maintaining drawing release schedule for assigned LRU's. This includes support work required from other engineering functions to support the LRU development.
* Works closely with supply chain and/or operations to ensure designs are manufacturable (DFM) while satisfying the Design to Cost (DTC) targets
* Responsible for ensuring drawings are released on time and are in conformance with design and drafting standards

This will be coupled with the ability to think "big picture" about how RA products and systems are incorporated with the customer application. You will have demonstrated leadership qualities of project planning, tracking and organizing to take ownership and be the single contact for the customer in managing solutions support engagements throughout the lifecycle of the engagement.
You will report to the Project Manager Team Lead that is located in Mayfield Heights, OH.
Responsibilities - What You'll Do:
You will oversee all project activities - commercially and technically
You will understand, interpret, and respond to customer requests at a high level, demonstrating knowledge of the different network and cybersecurity product offerings and their general benefits to the customer
You will improve resolutions for all open issues.
You will be the primary contact to customer and network and cybersecurity consultants for service to customer
You will ensure customer expectations are met
You will build productive internal/external working relationships
You will lead by example, striving for continuous improvement, demonstrating, fulfilling commitments to customers and Rockwell Automation, valuing, and encouraging a diverse workforce.
You will provide responsiveness to customers, sales, and management with the appropriate level of urgency.
Ability to understand and use our systems and tools to manage forecasting and project updates
The Essentials - You Will Have:
Bachelor's degree
Ability to travel up to 10%

The Preferred - You Might Have:
Minimum 3 years of project management experience
Minimum 3 years' experience managing multiple complex projects
Minimum 3 years' experience with direct customer contact
Promote administrative and operational deliverables to completion
Must have excellent conflict resolution and people interface skills
Experience building relationships with main partners for each assigned customer of management.
Project Management Professional (PMP).

This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation.
For this role, the Base Salary Compensation is from 101,680.00 - 152,520.00 USD Annual, with an annual target bonus of 5% of base salary. Our benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
