Emerging areas of focus include metal additive manufacturing, blockchain for supply chain, sensor integration, and propulsion test facilities.
Moog in Orrville OH is a global designer and manufacturer of high performance hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical (EM) actuators for nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, as well as for some of the most demanding industrial applications. Our naval products comply with stringent qualification requirements such as shock, vibration, low acoustic signature, and seawater corrosion resistance, while our industrial products are often designed comply with API, ATEX, or other customer specific requirements. Many of our applications are mission or safety critical.
This position is for a Design Engineer in the Design Engineering group within Moog Orrville. In this role, you will play a key role in the conceptual design, analysis, development and qualification of hardware used on military and commercial vehicles and equipment. The products of Moog are generally unique for each customer and therefore most new applications require a special, tailored design. Currently, most work for the Design Engineering group in Orrville is in the development of hydraulic actuator equipment for US Navy nuclear submarines.
This position offers opportunities to use a broad range of skills. Our site is relatively small, and you'll be expected to utilize multiple engineering and interpersonal skillsets, and you will also have the ability to tap into the resources and expertise of many other talented engineers in Orrville and across other Moog sites nationwide. You will be relied upon to work both independently and on a team of other passionate professionals like yourself.
To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
* Relevant technical degree, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with 3 or more yrs relevant experience. Other education considered with experience.
* Solid communication skills to engage with customers, program managers, manufacturing teams, and other engineering staff and personnel throughout Moog.
* Strong, data driven decision making skills
* Practical knowledge and/or experience with technical drawing practices and GD&T standards
* 3D CAD modeling experience
* Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Familiarity with military contractual requirements and specifications.
* Siemens Teamcenter and/or NX software familiarity
* Hands-on experience with hydraulic and other mechanical equipment strongly desired.
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
* This role is primarily a design engineering function, meaning the nominal job duties will support development of new equipment designs. Design Engineers in this area will be required to create engineering calculations and design reports, CAD models, part drawings, assembly drawings, test procedures and support performance of on-site and off-site qualification tests. In addition, the position will require the following:
* Professionally interface with customer and supplier representatives during project reviews and to resolve emergent technical issues.
* Perform assigned engineering tasks within budget and time constraints to support project cost and schedule objectives.
* Exercise effective and logical engineering judgement in all design decisions, provide organized and thorough technical support as required
* Obtain a detailed working knowledge of applicable customer application documents, military specifications, and contract requirements
* Successfully collaborate with internal Moog areas of contract administration, program management, manufacturing, quality, assembly and test to ensure new equipment designs satisfy all stakeholder interests prior to entering production

Salary Range Transparency:

Our naval products comply with stringent qualification requirements such as shock, vibration, low acoustic signature, and seawater corrosion resistance, while our industrial products are often designed comply with API, ATEX, or other customer specific requirements. Many of our applications are mission or safety critical.
This position is for a Design Engineer in the Design Engineering group within Moog Orrville. In this role, you will play a key role in the conceptual design, analysis, development and qualification of hardware used on military and commercial vehicles and equipment. The products of Moog are generally unique for each customer and therefore most new applications require a special, tailored design. As PLM Sourcing Project Manager, you will be responsible for product line sourcing strategy development and execution in both the Continuation and New Product Introduction (NPI) process. This is a cross-functional leadership role with responsibility for project management and accountability for deadlines, results, and metrics. Your Responsibilities:
Lead and early supplier engagement in Rockwell Automation's Common Product Development (CPD) process.
Lead supplier driven cost improvement activities. Support NPI and Continuation team's product cost targets through establishment of best-in-class cost for new components.
Drive execution of ISC Supply Chain Material Readiness (SCMR) which includes the utilization of the ISC Part Tracker and Critical Part Process risk management.
Reduce product risk through proper sourcing strategy development and execution. Drive use of 'Preferred' suppliers. Provide NPI or Continuation team with supply chain risk assessments which include obsolescence, delivery, currency, logistics, political and other risks.
Project manages the communication and activities between the NPI or Continuation team and Sourcing/Procurement. The primary area of geographic responsibilities will be to focus on key customers in Gulf Coast Region but will include other accounts/projects in the rest of the USA.
The role will focus on all Parker Instrumentation Group products and where applicable other Groups products from within Parker.

Responsibilities
* Ensure Parker Instrumentation products are specified or at least accepted by the end user.
* Update the Project tracking system with specification progress from Project Conception, through FEED and ultimately to the award and execution.
* Circulate Package Vendor Information to Distribution, with the help of Sales Network.
* Secure orders for Instrument Bulks & package vendors.
* Hold regular Distribution meetings to network around Project information.
* Network with the Oil and Gas, Chem Petrochem, Marine, Power Gen, OEM type companies.
* Uncover and record position of Parker and its products relative to Corporate End Users, Engineering/EPCs, OEM's and Supply Houses.
* Determine strategies to improve position of Parker Products, based on internal and external relationships, historical Usage, Technical strength of Parker Products and commercial support.
* Work with the Innovation teams at the Divisions to understand customer unmet needs and its' input to the New Product Development process - Winovation
* Assist the Division in its Strategic Pricing Activities
* Be a team player to exchange information & support other Project managers to win projects together.
Key Accountabilities
* Be responsible for a multi-million $ Sales target and a monthly sales forecast to support the Groups goal
* Be responsible for adding Parker in AML's at End Users creating more opportunities for Parker on current or future projects.
* Be responsible for helping Engineering/EPCs and End Users to up date technical specification that would be Parker friendly creating more opportunities for Parker on current or future projects.
Decision Making Authority
* To achieve all objectives, decide on his/her actions and activities.
* Decide what appointments and customer visits to conduct
* Significant Travel & Expenses requires prior approval
* Cannot give pricing or agree T&Cs this is a Division or Group activity.
* Cannot make technical statements not aligned to the Division or Group.
Qualifications
* English (Fluent)
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent
* Technical Sales track record
* Contacts at End Users or EPCs or Major O&G OEM type customers.
* 5 years of experience selling Engineered products into the O&G Market Sector
* Good understanding of Valves & Fitting type Instrumentation Connection technologies
