RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dean of the College of Science & Engineering is responsible for administering and providing direct and effective leadership in undergraduate and graduate program development, evaluation, staffing, budgeting, and resource management to faculty and staff in the departments of Agricultural Sciences; Biology and Chemistry; Mathematics; Engineering Sciences; Nursing; Kinesiology, Health and Imaging Sciences and Psychology. In addition, the Dean also serves as liaison for the MSU/UK Physician Assistant Program. The Dean provides leadership and works collaboratively with the College of Education Dean to administer the MSUTeach program. REQUIREMENTS: Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university in a field of study that is represented within the academic college. Three years of successful academic experience in higher education at the level of Department Chair or higher. Tenured faculty members, with faculty rank commensurate with job responsibilities. Evidence of professional and scholarly activity. Understanding of shared governance, academic personnel issues, curricular matters and budgeting. Effective leadership and communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to gain grants, contracts, and other external resources for the units within the academic college. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Accreditation experience.
