About the Lab The Morgan Lewis AI Lab is the firm's hub for AI experimentation, consulting, and strategic insight. We explore emerging technologies, evaluate their legal and business applications, and guide stakeholders through AI solution design. The Lab works across practice areas and administrative departments, supporting innovation through hands-on development, education, and collaborative research. Responsibilities Full-Stack Prototyping: Build simple demos and proof-of-concept applications that showcase the value of AI tools to internal clients and firm leadership. Model Development: Train and evaluate machine learning models, including fine-tuning large language models (LLMs), using state-of-the-art architectures in both cloud and on-prem environments. Opportunity Scoping & Solution Design: Translate ambiguous business and legal challenges into clearly defined technical problem statements and targeted AI solutions. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with attorneys, business professionals, and IT teams to understand needs, manage expectations, and support successful adoption of AI tools. Communication & Documentation: Produce high-quality written and verbal communications, including project briefs, experiment plans, stakeholder updates, and user-facing documentation. AI Systems Architecture: Design secure, scalable AI infrastructure, including pipelines for natural language processing, automation, and decision-support tools tailored to legal workflows. Experience and Qualifications Educational Background: Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, AI, data science, engineering, or a related field. Professional Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in AI, machine learning, or software development, with demonstrated success in translating technical work into real-world solutions. Technical Expertise: Proficiency with machine learning frameworks, NLP techniques, and modern AI models (especially LLMs); familiarity with cloud platforms and on-prem setups. Programming Skills: Intermediate Python and SQL required; JavaScript or other frontend experience is a plus.
