Mr. Johnson is President of Mortenson Construction, a family-owned construction company that provides general contracting, development, and program management services throughout North America with $3.7 billion in annual revenues and over 5,000 employees. Before assuming his current role as President in January 2015, Mr. Johnson served as Chief Operating Officer from 2008 to December 2014, and prior to that, held various leadership and managerial positions since joining Mortenson Construction in 1986. Mr. Johnson has been a director of Fastenal since May 2016 and is a member of our audit committee.

I am an experienced independent director and sitting CFO. I have led and completed multiple, successful equity and debt raises; taken companies public; effected tax free spin/separations of businesses; along with strategic and operational transformations of business models across multiple industries. I am a leader known for building strong interpersonal relationships across organizations and diverse stakeholders, with an innate sense of curiosity and interest in business and people.I am CFO of Mortenson Companies, a $5B global design, development, construction and operations company spanning the commercial, renewable energy, infrastructure & civil sectors. Previously I served as the CFO of Ceridian and led the operational, legal and tax-free separation of the $1.5B global enterprise into two discreet businesses (HCM & Payments), facilitating the sale of the Payments business for $3.5B to Fleetcor (NYSE: FLT). I guided the HCM business through the transformation from an on-premise, service bureau payroll provider with decreasing revenue and market share to an industry award winning, cloud based, SaaS HCM solution. During this time, I led capital restructurings, cost reductions, and divestitures to strengthen the company’s financial position. Prior to my role at Ceridian, I served as CFO of Capella Education Company (NASDAQ: CPLA) and Deluxe Corporation (NYSE: DLX).I am recognized as a transformational executive leader and board member, with a proven track record of creating shareholder value. I have and continue to serve on public and private corporate boards. I am known for my strong diplomatic skills and natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse stakeholders.
