Job Description
Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure.
Maintain, optimize, test, document and support complex communications systems.
Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results
Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues
Team with Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Customer Service personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations
Deliver a strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)
Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment
Unique combinations of both strong multi-site RF communications system and computer/networking skills are required.
Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products and Motorola Radio Programming Software suite.
Capable of performing maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
Strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Motorola's customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service teams
Self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision
Able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations
Working knowledge of various communications test equipment including:
Communication System Analyzers
Ethernet Link test sets
T1 Test Sets
TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set)
Digital RF Power Meter
Working experience with one or more of the following: Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, and MCC Console systems, Secure Operations and ASTRO A7.x Digital systems and installation procedures.
Able to demonstrate high level systems expertise and have a minimum of 3+ years of related experience with the following equipment:
Motorola Base Stations (GTR series,)
Consoles (MCC7500, MCC7100)
Channel Banks and T1 Circuits
Computer IP Networks and Configuration
Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies to include Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment is strongly preferred
Ideally the individual should have at least one network certification: Network +, Security +, CCNA
Candidate Requirements
Must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
Must be capable of performing maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
Total familiarity with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques
Must have strong knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks
Must have strong knowledge in standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, as well as knowledge of packet switching techniques
Must have experience with one of the following: P25, LMR, Smartnet, SmartZone, RF infrastructure, ASTRO systems, radios and consoles.
Must have excellent communications skills and always present a professional image.
Must have a current, valid driver's license and no traffic violations
Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s)
Location/Travel
Local travel is required for all planned activities, including potential unplanned events and remediation efforts.
MUST live within a commutable distance to the public safety customers located in the state of Tennessee.
Frequent travel throughout the state with approximately 10% or less overnight travel is required.
Position requires on-call rotations to support outages in the territory, 24/7, 365, weekends, holidays.

Target Base Salary Range: $65,000 - $90,000 USD

Department OverviewThe FieldService Organization (FSO) is dedicated to implementing and maintaining advanced technical communication systems for customers. This involves a range of tasks including the deployment, optimization, and repair of various equipment such as infrastructure, NICE public safety loggers, 911/ECW/Airbus systems, subscribers, Microwave, Computers, Servers, and Network equipment, both for Motorola and external clients. The FSO collaborates with System Managers, Engineers, the Sales team, Project Managers, System Technologists, and service partners to achieve these objectives. Job Description
This role focuses on the post-sale life cycle of highly technical communication systems, including installation, optimization, maintenance, and management. The core responsibility is to proactively ensure optimal system performance by addressing alarms and errors, conducting routine maintenance, and monitoring performance. This involves installing and optimizing system hardware and software, as well as advanced troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
System Expertise: Install, optimize, and maintain public radio systems (VHF, UHF, 700/800), 911/ECW/Airbus equipment, NG911 infrastructure, and NICE public safety systems.
Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine preventative maintenance, with an emphasis on trend analysis and documentation, to ensure continuous system operation.
Problem Solving: Develop effective solutions for complex technical challenges encountered during system implementation, upgrades, and ongoing support.
Technical Proficiency: Stay current with the latest technologies and troubleshooting methods in transport, communications, and RF systems.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with system managers, engineering, project management, sales, system technologists, and partners to design, implement, optimize, and transition advanced communication systems that meet or exceed customer expectations.
On-Call & Travel: Participate in a 50% on-call rotation and travel 25-50% within the T7 region as needed.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of wired/wireless communication systems, including LAN/WAN, computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance (cabling, routers, switches, bridges).
Proficiency with P25 Systems, NICE public safety loggers, LMR RF systems, networking equipment, and IT networks.
Solid knowledge of standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
Good understanding of Motorola trunking, P25, and SmartZone systems.
Experience in configuring and testing Motorola two-way radio and subscriber products, channel banks, routers, hubs, and switches.
Ability to utilize equipment for the optimization and testing of Motorola Two-Way radio (e.g., Communication Systems Analyzers, watt meters, TIMS sets, CPS, RSS, Antenna Systems Analyzers (FDRs), T1 test sets).
Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
Interpersonal & Self-Management Skills:
Strong self-management and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with Motorola's customers, subcontractor partners, Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams.
Self-motivated and self-managed, capable of performing duties with minimal direct supervision.
Ability to quickly resolve customer problems in high-pressure situations.
Excellent interpersonal skills for close collaboration with internal Motorola teams and customers.
Certifications & Clearances:
Must be able to successfully pass and maintain background checks and obtain security clearances.
A clean driving record is required.
A CET certification is required within 6 months of hiring.
An FCC License and other industry certifications are a plus.
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance for government contracts.
Leadership & Training:
Acts as a subject matter expert, performing sub-system level troubleshooting to achieve optimal system performance. Capable of developing and delivering technical training and providing guidance on integrating new tools and solutions into team operations.
Education & Experience:

Rise Broadband is seeking a highly motivated Field Network Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, installation, and repair of telecommunications towers and related equipment. The technician will work with a team to ensure that all towers are in good working condition, meet safety standards, and are operating at maximum efficiency.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance on telecommunications towers and related equipment, including replacing or repairing parts as needed
Conduct inspections of towers and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
Install new telecommunications equipment on towers, including antennas, cables, and related hardware
Work with a team to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with tower equipment and systems
Use specialized tools and equipment, such as hand tools, power tools, and electronic testing equipment, to complete assigned tasks
Climb towers to access equipment and perform maintenance and repair work
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines when working at heights and in potentially hazardous environments
Complete all required paperwork and documentation related to job duties
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience working in telecommunications tower maintenance, repair, or installation preferred
Ability to work at heights up to 400 feet and in potentially hazardous environments required
Comfort with climbing ladders, towers, and other elevated structures required
Ability to work with equipment that has a weight limit of 260 lbs or less required.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics required
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
Ability to work independently or as part of a team required
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
Working Conditions
Employee is constantly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Must possess physical conditioning and stamina to climb heights up to 400 feet and perform physically demanding tasks at such heights. Must be able to frequently climb a ladder and work in an elevated position. On a constant basis, must safely lift, carry and maneuver heavy or awkward objects 100 pounds or more, with or without assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close up, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Full spectrum color vision required.
Must be able to work safely in a field or office environment. Must be adept at working in adverse weather conditions.
Daily travel within the Company's geographical footprint is required.
