Job Description
A Sales Systems Engineer partners closely with customers and the sales team, delivering customer-driven, world-class, leading-edge, end-to-end solutions that rise to the communications and situational awareness challenges that our customers face. Working within a team of sales, service, engineering, and technical support resources, the Sales Systems Engineer Intern is the overall owner of the solution's technical design, ensuring we meet our customers' needs. He/she will be responsible for upgrading/deploying various devices which include network gear, Windows-based devices, virtual machines and Motorola proprietary devices. Along with above duties, individuals will be a customer facing technical resource through the upgrade effort. He/She will be primarily traveling to mid-Atlantic states' customer locations to carry out their duties.
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE highly desirable
Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) highly desirable
Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar, highly desirable

The Wireless Research group within InterDigital's Research and Innovation (R&I) organization is responsible for leading InterDigital's North American next generation wireless research projects. One of our current research themes focuses on Information Value-Native and Reasoning-Based Semantic Wireless Systems, with a vision for future artificial general intelligence native networks.
The evolution of communication services beyond connectivity-only based service opens up opportunity to redesign the communication system for dynamic fine-grain adjustment of QoS treatment and provide per-packet treatment leveraging advanced AI/ML capabilities. The goal of this research project is to develop the scientific foundations for: a) information-value metrics that include attributes beyond connectivity and their integration into the evaluation of user experience, b) design of new communication, artificial intelligence (AI), and computing architectures that are tailored towards delivering target QoE while factoring in the information value and reasoning-based semantic, and 3) development of novel protocols that can enable information value-centric operation of wireless systems.
We are seeking a highly motivated wireless engineering intern to work on this project and help design, simulate, and prototype novel solutions, in which intelligent networks self-optimize to deliver services to users and devices that are tailored to content, context, connectivity, and beyond connectivity services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out cutting-edge research in radio interface design including physical layer, radio interface architecture and L2-4 protocols for next generation mobile communications systems
Research, analyze and evaluate cellular systems and develop wireless protocols and algorithm designs using theoretical analysis, link-level, or system-level simulations for 6G and beyond
Implement wireless protocols and associated algorithms in a MATLAB or Sionna based testbench to support various features for 6G and beyond
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and/or technical papers surveying state of the art, describing design and development efforts, and presenting evaluation results
Drive technology generation and disclosure writing and supporting patent applications and downstream support

THE WORK
RippleX assists developers building on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a fast and reliable public blockchain. As a Software Engineer Intern on the Quality Enforcers team for the XRPL ecosystem, you will develop tools and services that keep this large distributed system detailed, credible, and understandable. You will apply software engineering and distributed systems concepts. You'll use AI-assisted methods to improve validation, analysis, and summarization of rippled's behavior under real-world conditions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
* Build and implement backend tools and components of a multi‑agent system that exercise rippled, orchestrate tests from high‑level, natural‑language requests, and verify behavior across different scenarios.
* Build intelligent data workflows and pipelines over metrics, logs, traces, ledger data, and mainnet telemetry to compare runs to baselines and surface clear, actionable signals (anomalies, trends, hotspots).
* Use AI-assisted techniques if they provide customer value. This includes anomaly detection on time-series metrics and logs. It also involves natural-language summaries that make sophisticated run results clear for developers.
* Collaborate with engineers on building, code reviews, and documentation, and help refine the heuristics for what "good" looks like for XRPL reliability and performance.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
* Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate, Graduate, or PhD program or possessing equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
* Available for a 12‑week internship in Summer 2026 (May or June start), with intent to return to your degree program afterward.
* Experience with at least one programming language such as C++, Python, Java, or Go.
* Proven understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, operating systems or networking).
* Interest in distributed systems and/or data-intensive systems and methods to validate and observe them at scale.
* Comfortable working on backend or system-focused projects and collaborating in a team environment.
* Curiosity about applied ML/LLMs or automation powered by artificial intelligence for developer tools and analysis.
