In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Emergency Department Technician will provide patient care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the Organization. This Emergency Department Technician position will be working on nights in our Trauma Center at Mount Carmel East three 12-hour shifts per week from 6pm - 6:30am with rotating weekends and holidays. The Pre-op/Post-op/PACU department at Mount Carmel Grove City has 20 pre-op/post-op bays and 14 PACU bays. The Registered Nurse would expect to see inpatient and outpatient cases related to surgery, endoscopy, IR, myelograms, and MRI's. The PACU ratio is 2:1 unless ICU, Pre-op is 2/3:1, Post-op is 2/3:1. The Preop/PACU department at Mount Carmel St. Ann's averages about 30 cases per day. The registered nurse would expect to see pre-surgical and post-surgical care cases. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:2 in the PACU and a new patient can be expected in preop every hour. This is a face paced department with great energy and teamwork. Staff are cross trained in preop and PACU which offers the opportunity to gain additional skills and interact with different patient populations. This team is comprised of tenured staff that are always happy to mentor new colleagues. The schedule is either 0530-1800 or 0830-2100. There is an evening, night, and weekend on-call requirement. Position Summary Performs professional nursing care and services for assigned physician(s) or department(s) under the general policies and procedures established by FPG. Under supervision of the physician(s), participates in providing health promotion, health maintenance, and management of illnesses. Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care and provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinic services. Responsible for performing a variety of clinical duties including but not limited to: monitoring patient flow, obtaining and documenting patient vitals, document current medications, chief complaint, performing technical laboratory functions including phlebotomy/EKG/stress testing, monitor/track/charge medical equipment, scheduling procedures and tests, and medical scribe duties. What you will need: * Must be a graduate of an accredited program of practical nursing with current licensure in the state of Ohio. * OR must be a High school graduate. Medical Assistant certification required. * Must have the ability to perform as a medical scribe. * Prior experience in a medical office/urgent care setting preferred. * Current CPR certification. * Must be knowledgeable of technical application of nursing process. * Must possess critical thinking skills, including skill in exercising initiative, judgement, problem solving, and decision making. * Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurable under Firelands auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
