* The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT), within the Ohio Scope of Practice, provides therapeutic procedures and diagnostic testing to chronically and acutely ill patients requiring respiratory procedures. What You Will Do:
* Provide Respiratory Care, ensure an environment of patient safety, promote evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibit professionalism in the care of patients and their families.
* Perform duties or responsibilities outside the normal routine care of the patient.
* Initiate and administer therapeutic procedures, diagnostic tests and education in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
* Record information/patient assessment on the patient's medical record and maintain departmental records.
* Precept new employees as requested and participate in students clinical rotations.
* Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to maintain respiratory therapy equipment.
* Communicate pertinent clinical information and collaborate with physicians, house staff and other health care disciplines regarding patient care, treatment and/or plan of care.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: Successful completion of a 2 or 4 year Respiratory Care Program, or completion of additional educational requirements allowing eligibility to obtain registry credentials.
* Licensure / Certification: Ohio Respiratory Care Professional License to practice in the State of Ohio and National Board of Respiratory Care credential indicating RRT or CRT
* Experience: Clinical experience in adult and neonatal respiratory therapy procedures such as aerosolized delivery of medication, mechanical ventilation, assisting with intubations and extubations, pulmonary function studies, emergency care, and obtaining and interpreting arterial blood gases.
* Maintain current BLS certification.

The Respiratory Aide II, under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist, may provide basic respiratory care to non-acute patients. This role may also be responsible for cleaning, assembling, and maintaining respiratory supplies and equipment. Must maintain a clean, organized, and functional work area.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist, draws arterial and/or capillary blood samples from patients, processes the sample, record and report results, and perform quality controls as required.
+ May administer oxygen delivery devices. Sets-up and monitors non-invasive equipment such as oximeters or end-tidal CO2 analyzers.
+ May provides basic respiratory therapy techniques to include: Aerosol Therapy, Postural Drainage and Percussion, Incentive Spirometry, Metered Dose Inhalers, and all other treatment modalities.
+ May perform EKG's; understands electronic monitoring, lead placement, and basic arrhythmias.
+ Cleans, sterilizes, assembles, tests, and maintains par levels of facility respiratory equipment.
+ Orders, maintains, and delivers oxygen to units.
+ Ensures respiratory equipment is available for procedures and examinations
+ Arranges for the repair of broken equipment.
+ Fills orders for respiratory supplies and equipment
+ Receives for respiratory supplies and equipment deliveries

The Respiratory Aide II, under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist, may provide basic respiratory care to non-acute patients. This role may also be responsible for cleaning, assembling, and maintaining respiratory supplies and equipment. Must maintain a clean, organized, and functional work area.
Essential Job Functions
Under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist, draws arterial and/or capillary blood samples from patients, processes the sample, record and report results, and perform quality controls as required.
May administer oxygen delivery devices. Sets-up and monitors non-invasive equipment such as oximeters or end-tidal CO2 analyzers.
May provides basic respiratory therapy techniques to include: Aerosol Therapy, Postural Drainage and Percussion, Incentive Spirometry, Metered Dose Inhalers, and all other treatment modalities.
May perform EKG's; understands electronic monitoring, lead placement, and basic arrhythmias.
Cleans, sterilizes, assembles, tests, and maintains par levels of facility respiratory equipment.
Orders, maintains, and delivers oxygen to units.
Ensures respiratory equipment is available for procedures and examinations
Arranges for the repair of broken equipment.
Fills orders for respiratory supplies and equipment
Receives for respiratory supplies and equipment deliveries
Inspects supplies and equipment deliveries for damage
Labels storage bins, shelves, and other inventory locations

Assesses patient's condition and response to respiratory therapy by checking patients pulse, blood pressure, respiratory frequency, tidal volume, inspiratory pressure, cough, sputum, breath sounds, and other pertinent data that relates to the patient. Must also be alert to adverse reactions of patient during treatment, plus be aware of proper response to emergencies.
Recognizes and responds to the signs of cardiopulmonary arrest and/or failure and life threatening arrhythmias during EKG's. As necessary, assists in performing and or initiating CPR procedures.
Modifies therapy to deal with adverse or ineffective patient response or reports changes to shift supervisor.
Records procedures, patient response, and medication administration in compliance with departmental documentation requirements. Relays same information.
Participates in in-services, continuing education, and other staff development activities.
Keeps confidential all patient information received and follows MMC Guest Relations guidelines.
Evaluates ABG reports and checks for accuracy of results and reports abnormal reports to proper therapist, nurse, and/or physician.
Performs arterial punctures when certified to perform procedure by Medical Director (otherwise procedure is done only under direct supervision of ABG certified individual). Able to run ABG samples on the GEM Premier 4000.
Performs nasal and tracheal suctioning of patients of all ages and obtains tracheal secretions for culture.

Maintains patients on continuous mechanical ventilators and is responsible for providing these patients with respiratory care (monitors patients every 1-3 hours).
Under the supervision of registered therapist, performs the following tasks;
Is primarily responsible for the respiratory stature of patients in ICU and makes appropriate decisions to insure that these patients are receiving the best in respiratory care; recommends or obtains ABG samples, x-rays, O2, and other respiratory care procedures that one feels is necessary for the patient's welfare.
Implements weaning procedures from continuous mechanical ventilations and monitors patients during this procedure.
Alerts therapist, supervisor, RN, and Physician or Medical Director to any changes in the cardiopulmonary status of patients in the ICU or any other critically ill patient of any age.
Monitors endotracheal cuffs on patients of all ages with artificial airways; assists in airway care as indicated.
Assists in clinical instruction of RT students.
Auscultates lungs of patients in ICU and reports findings to proper RN, therapist, or physician.
Instructs patients, families, and other MMC personnel in the proper care of RT procedures and techniques.
May assist physician in performing bronchoscopy, certified by medical director. Maintains all supplies, monitors patients, obtains cultures and cytology samples and sterilizes equipment. Participates in conscious sedation procedures and patient monitoring.
Perform skin testing (certified by Medical Director)
Provides pulmonary services in the Emergency Department. Performs patients assessments and treatment according to the Emergency Department/Respiratory Care protocol.
Participates in departmental or multidisciplinary teams related to clinical quality, safety, education, best practices, or process improvements.
Follows MMC & Pulmonary Medicine infection control policies.

Respiratory Care Practitioners:
Perform respiratory care according to policies, procedures, and protocols of Lurie Children's.
Perform patient assessment and analyze laboratory and diagnostic data to assist in patient plan of care.
Institute, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment including but not limited to mechanical ventilation, high frequency ventilation, oxygen delivery devices, aerosol delivery devices.
Provide airway care, administer inhaled medications, perform airway clearance, bronchial hygiene, and lung expansion therapy.
Initiate, monitor, and maintain therapeutic gases including heliox, nitric oxide, oxygen and nitrogen.
Evaluate the patient's progress through continuous observation and assessment of responses to interventions, treatments, and therapies and recommends revision in the care plan according to changes in patient needs.
Demonstrate knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high level disinfection, and sterilization as required.
Informed and up to date in respiratory care by utilizing current respiratory and healthcare literature for information and problem solving.
Communicate with the family and members of the multidisciplinary team to identify health care needs.
Anticipate impending emergent situations and intervenes effectively.
Units We Support:
Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU)-
64 single bed unit, committed to providing top-quality care using the most recent advancements in equipment and techniques, with specialized attention to pulmonary issues, critical care, and other specialty needs.
Access to the latest interventions and treatments including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), specialty ventilation techniques, and transplant services .
Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU)-
Level IV facility
One of the top programs in the state/region
Specializes in Neurocritical care for infants with neurological problems, severe respiratory issues, lung disease, birth defects and other genetic disorders, and surgical intervention for complex surgical problems.
Cardiac Care Unit (CCU)-
High Tech, state-of-the-art, 48-bed unit, devoted to the care of young patients with cardiac disease.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of a Center on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited program in respiratory care. Minimal requirement: Associate Degree.
Licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Illinois, active and in good standing.
Active CRT (certified respiratory therapist) Credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC.)
Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association.
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff.
Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills, accepting of change, demonstrate adaptability.
Must possess the skills and judgement necessary to implement medical plan of care, clinical interventions and procedures as needed for the patient.

Job Description
The Respiratory Care Practitioner/Sleep Technician performs all duties of Sleep Technologist I and II. This position performs comprehensive sleep testing analysis and comprehensive evaluation and treatment of respiratory related sleep disorders under the general supervision of the clinical director (M.D., D.O., and/or PH.D) or designee. This may involve polysomnography with ventilator and positive airway pressure titrations. Has the ability to complete administrative tasks as well as technical duties. This is a technical position with no supervisory responsibilities but can provide respiratory care guidance to all Polysomnographic Technologist.
Essential Job Functions:
Monitors and maintains mechanical ventilator, continuous positive pressure devices, oxygen and humidity devices.
Assesses patients and diagnostic data in order to adjust ventilator and positive airway pressure settings per protocol.
Assesses and evaluates the patient's respiratory care in consultation with physicians, nurses and other health care personnel.
Possesses adept clinical skill in manipulating ventilators and positive airway pressure equipment.
Troubleshoots basic ventilator and positive airway pressure equipment.
Scores sleep/wake stages and scoring clinical events (such as respiratory events cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc.) utilizing AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) standards.
Generates accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data
Demonstrate critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision to analyze complex situations and applies policy.
Evaluates the patient's progress through continuous observation and assessment of responses to interventions.
Maintain continuing education requirements for credential by reviewing literature and attending continuing education meeting and seminars.
Respond to sleep patients' procedural-related inquires by providing appropriate education utilizing sleep center protocols.
Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment. Selects amplifier settings, obtains quality data, and analyzes data during recordings.
Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identify, correct and document artifact.
Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.)
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
Performs other job functions as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of a CoARC accredited associates degree program in respiratory care required.
Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Illinois required.

The Respiratory Therapist (RT) provides care, supervision, and clinical support to individuals with developmental disabilities in accordance with established procedures and standards.
This position combines clinical respiratory care with direct assistance in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), ensuring a supportive and therapeutic environment.

Supervision:
Reports to the RT Supervisor for performance, scheduling, and guidance
Receives day-to-day direction from the Home Administrator and/or Lead RN
Schedule:
Standard shifts are 12 hours; flexibility is required for overnight, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Primary work location is a residential care facility (assignments may vary)
Compliance with state regulations, vaccination requirements, and safety protocols is mandatory
⚕️ Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. General Responsibilities
Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment that respects residents' dignity and rights
Deliver Active Treatment and positive interventions in accordance with ICS standards
Use effective communication, documentation, and time management skills
Report incidents, suspected abuse, or violations of rights immediately to the Administrator

2. Core Resident Care Duties
A. Daily Living Support
Assist residents with ADLs including lifting, transferring, and mobility support
Implement and monitor Individual Program Plans (IPPs)
Apply behavior support and positive intervention strategies
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure cohesive care
Act as a resident advocate, safeguarding individual rights and well-being
Facilitate skill-building and independence in daily routines
Promote social, emotional, cognitive, and developmental growth through structured activities
Support a hygienic environment through light housekeeping and sanitation duties
B. Resident Engagement
Support occupational, recreational, vocational, and educational programs
Encourage resident participation in community and therapeutic activities
Display empathy and professionalism with residents and families
Document progress, participation, and behavior in resident records
Provide mentorship and onboarding support to new staff members
C. Observation, Documentation & Emergency Response
Observe, document, and report physical and behavioral changes promptly
Respond effectively to medical or behavioral emergencies
Conduct assessments at admission, daily, and as needed
Supervise residents under special precautions (elopement, suicide risk, self-injury, etc.)
Maintain and monitor emergency medical equipment and supplies
Complete all incident and progress reports accurately and in a timely manner
3. Respiratory Care Responsibilities
Deliver all respiratory care in compliance with Respiratory Care Board regulations
Administer respiratory treatments and therapies safely and effectively
Manage oxygen delivery systems and ventilator care
Perform airway management and tracheal suctioning
Interpret arterial blood gas (ABG) results and initiate interventions
Administer prescribed medications accurately per protocol
Communicate changes in resident condition to physicians and staff promptly
Participate in shift handoffs, walking rounds, and interdisciplinary meetings
Document all treatments, outcomes, and resident responses in records
4. Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Participate in the development and review of each resident's IPP
Attend case conferences and care plan reviews
Contribute to goal-setting, skill development, and behavioral planning
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and compliance across all care activities
5. Facility & Environmental Support
Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and personal property organization
Inspect fire safety and adaptive equipment routinely
Report and correct safety hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately
Support infection control and universal precaution procedures
6. Training and Professional Development
Attend a minimum of four (4) ICS meetings annually
Complete required continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain licensure
Participate in mandatory and ongoing training programs for skill enhancement

* May administer oxygen delivery devices. Sets-up and monitors non-invasive equipment such as oximeters or end-tidal CO2 analyzers.
* May provides basic respiratory therapy techniques to include: Aerosol Therapy, Postural Drainage and Percussion, Incentive Spirometry, Metered Dose Inhalers, and all other treatment modalities.
* May perform EKG's; understands electronic monitoring, lead placement, and basic arrhythmias.
* Cleans, sterilizes, assembles, tests, and maintains par levels of facility respiratory equipment.
