Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Performs routine and complex sonography imaging by acquiring and processing patient exams in accordance with accreting bodies and/or manufacturer guidelines and as outlined in department protocols. Selects proper sonography protocols and techniques to obtain optimal data. Reviews cases with the Maternal Fetal Medicine provider when appropriate. Reviews labs and patient history to perform correct exam.
Responsible to review ultrasound orders for completeness and accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity. Takes steps to acquire additional information if needed from the patient, ordering provider and/or MFM provider.
Demonstrates acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors and alignment. Reviews patient data for accuracy, quality and completeness.
Transfers and verifies image data in PACS and other digital and reporting systems providing necessary medical history and information for MFM provider interpretation. Utilizes the web servers and email systems to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
Responsible for maintaining imaging equipment and workplace environment including maintaining supply inventories and orderliness of work area. Recognizes malfunctions and service needs and reports service needs in a timely manner.
Ensures patient, visitor and environmental safety. Reports safety events immediately including those that are a near miss.
Assists in instruction of students and new staff as necessary. May perform duties of Sono Lead or Imaging Coordinator in his/her absence.
Meets productivity levels as established by department benchmarking. Assists other areas during downtimes so to maintain productivity.
May be required to perform duties of other modalities within the department to which licensers are held by the technologist/sonographer.
Complies with other job descriptions of cross-trained modalities also performed within the department.
Department Specific Job Function
Participate in educational activities within the scope of ultrasound. This may include presentations for CME credit.
Create AS OB reports following each ultrasound performed.

Summary:
3 10 hour shifts per week.
Responsible for performing diagnostic tests, such as echocardiograms, vascular studies, and follow-up paperwork for each procedure. Displays caring, courteous behavior in dealing with patients and their families, coworkers, physicians, and guests of the hospital.
Responsibilities And Duties:

Performs ultrasound imaging.

Prepares required reports.

Maintains files.

Maintains equipment. Provides needed statistics.

Handles telephone to schedule and provide information.

Reviews results of echocardiogram with physicians and performs quality assurance activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School or GED (Required) BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, RDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Additional Job Description:
Minimum in a two year allied, patient related healthcare program (i.e., sonography, radiology, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, or RN) AND either registered (RDCS or RCS) or registry eligible (RDCS or RCS) with registry obtained within 12 months of hire. BLS Certification.

* Reviews physician orders to ensure correct procedure and correctly identifies patients.
* Patient Care: Performs all studies according to policy and procedures and standards established by Accreditating body. Abnormal pathology reported appropriately. Explains procedures to patients, answers patient's questions. Ensures comfort of patient. Assists with patient transport as needed.
* Documentation: Obtains pertinent health history. Enters accurate and complete data in diagnostic testing equipment and documentation system. Ensures accuracy of reports prior to dispatch.
* Collaboration/Communication: Communicates pertinent patient data to appropriate team members. Collaborates with other departments to provide optimum patient care.
* Equipment Resource Management: Knowledgeable of all equipment pertinent to specific area of testing. Able to perform basic trouble-shooting. Participates in evaluation of new equipment.
* Initiative: Responsible for personal professional development. Maintains registry status or actively pursues registry. Responsible for completion of annual competencies. Participates in accreditation/re-accreditation process.
* Computer Skills: Utilizes computers appropriate to areas of testing effectively, including timekeeping system, clinical information systems and the intranet.
* Performance Improvement: Assists in development of department monitors and data collection. Participates in PI work groups.
*Minimum Qualifications:*
* Education: High School Education Required. Associates or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred
* Licensure / Certification: Registered as a Radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible.

a. RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) or

* Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience in cardiovascular imaging preferred.
* BLS certification required.
* Capable of lifting, turning patients in order to transport and position them for test. Additionally, be physically capable of moving the equipment needed to perform the study.
