Mount Paran Church company history timeline

1815

Later, the church adopted the name of a nearby military post called "Soldiers’ Delight". From the formation of the Presbytery of Baltimorein 1786 until 1815, ministers were enlisted from other churches in the area to supply in pulpit.

1841

The church was reorganized in 1841 under the name of Mt.

1921

With an initial membership of 165 people, the church flourished under the pastoral leadership of Holt and his successors, who eventually raised enough funds to construct a small, white-frame church building on Sixth Street in 1921—the eponymous location for the new Sixth Street Church of God.

1940

Once their facilities could no longer accommodate their growing membership, the church constructed a new building on Hemphill Avenue and relocated on September 8, 1940.

1960

The growth trajectory begun half a century earlier only multiplied under the leadership of Doctor Paul and Carmelita Walker, who assumed the Hemphill pastorate in 1960.

1965

1976

In 1976, with a staff of only two, the Mount Paran Christian School Learning Center was established.

1985

Mount Paran Church of God’s acquisition of a 65-acre site on Allgood Road (Marietta) in 1985, provided fulfillment of the vision for a total high school program.

1986

The high school program (grades nine through 11) began in 1986 with 94 students.

In 1986, MPCS became a member of the Georgia High School Athletic Association (GHSA). With an experienced athletic director and a staff of quality coaches, participation in interscholastic varsity and junior varsity sports became an important part of the MPCS program.

1994

In 1994, additional classrooms were required in the elementary school to facilitate growth.

2007

In December 2007, MPCS purchased the magnificent performing arts center adjacent to the school property.

2011

In 2011, the congregation once again obeyed the Spirit’s call to reach more local communities by establishing a new campus in Canton, GA, which has since matured into a stand-alone church.

2015

In 2015, Lynette had a life-changing experience with Young Living essential oils, and now she enjoys sharing her story while helping others find wellness.

In 2015, having outgrown the original edifice, the church moved it's 11am Sunday morning worship services to the Fellowship Hall.
