The responsibilities of the Staff/Senior Dosimetrist include the customized planning of radiation therapy in consultation with the Radiation Oncologist, calculations of the x-ray and electron beam dose rates, the continued quality assurance of patients' treatment plans through their course of therapy (including personal dosimetry checks) and the instruction of dosimetrists, medical and physicist residents, and dosimetrist school students, in physical principles and technical procedures. The treatment of the patient is followed from the design phase through the implementation phase to assure that the plan prescribed by the physician is being appropriately and accurately followed.

**Responsibilities**
1. Reviews daily plan assignment to dosimetrists to ensure plan proper quality, safety and workload.
2. Works with physicists to design training course for medical and physicist residents for treatment planning.
3. Works with director of dosimetrist school to teach dosimetrist students.
4. Participates in QCI program for treatment planning.
5. Performs treatment planning system monthly QA.
6. Creates treatment plans to accurately deliver the Radiation Oncologist's prescribed dose while sparing critical structures.
7. Correlates simulation radiographs with other diagnostic data such as CT scans to determine tumor and target locations and transfer this information from CT to radiographs.
8. Assists the Radiation Oncologist in the design of customized shielding to minimize doses delivered to non-target tissues (i.e. normal tissues).
9. Calculates "beam-on" times for the high energy linear accelerators in accordance with the treatment plan signed by the physician.
10. Collaborates in the setup of the patient with the radiation therapists including the use of treatment aids and immobilization devices.
11. Monitors each patient's treatment and records to assure the quality of their radiation treatments.
12. Reviews and compare the simulation radiographs with the treatment portal radiographs, when needed.
13. Participates in weekly Radiation Oncology chart rounds to review new patients' treatments and to assist in the peer review of the Radiation Oncologists' treatment planning.
14. Teaches dosimetry, simulations and treatment planning to Radiation Oncology Residents during their rotation through Physics.
15. Provides information for protocol patients

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology from an APA accredited doctoral program with post-graduate training in clinical neuropsychology and/or rehabilitation psychology. License to practice psychology in the State of New York required. Board certification or Board Certification Eligibility with the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) is desirable. Ability to offer bilingual neuropsychological services (particularly in Spanish) is also a plus. A minimum of 2-3 years experience in rehabilitation neuropsychology and/or neuropsychology is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Strong collaborative skills to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting. Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Distinguishing Features of the Class: Under supervision of attending physician(s) and in accordance with New York State laws and Hospital Board regulations, an incumbent in this class provides medical and surgical care in the division of Cardiothoracic Surgery of Westchester Medical Center. General responsibilities include examining patients, formulating diagnoses and developing a treatment plan for patients, performing technical, clinical and surgical procedures, documenting patient progress and surgical care. In addition, an incumbent in this classification will perform saphenous vein harvests, place and remove chest tubes and catheters, intubate and extubate patients and place and remove central lines and arterial lines. A registered Physician Assistant may write prescriptions and medical orders, however, if employed at Westchester Medical Center, prescriptions must be counter-signed by an attending physician within 24 hours. Does related work as required.
