Westminster at Lake Ridge is a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community serving older adults in three levels of service: Independent Living, Assisted Living, and a Health Center. Our team of roughly 270 total employees serves a population of over 400 total residents on 62 acres that back up to the Occoquan reservoir. Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for providing safety and security procedures to the residents of Ingleside's clients and communities. Additional duties include assistance with minor maintenance repairs.
Job Requirements:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED),
* six (6) months to one (1) year of security experience with unarmed security certification required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Incumbent should be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form, possess high-quality verbal and written communication ability, strong customer service skills, and be available at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provides safety and security to residents, visitors, and employees of Westminster at Lake Ridge.
* Patrols interior and exterior of the community throughout the day; ensures all doors and windows are secure.
* Ensures all areas of the community comply with the security, safety and fire requirements set by the state of Virginia
* Investigates all instances of property loss and/or disturbances; writes thorough report of findings and sends to Security Manager.
* Maintains security logs on all department activities and ensures all fire and safety systems are working properly.
* Assists fire and police officials with safety drills and/or emergency situations.
* Ensures constant contact with department managers and other security officers and responds to emergency calls immediately.
* Unlocks specified doors each morning at designated time and locks doors at requested time.
* Reports any emergency situation to the fire or police department immediately and ensures appropriate staff is notified in a timely fashion.
* Ensures all visitors are parked in appropriate parking spaces, resolves issues as needed.
* Assists nursing staff with lifting and/or escorting residents within the community.
* Monitors CCTV systems for suspicious activity throughout the property.
* Maintenance Assistance
* Assists in general maintenance duties, repairs, or requests on a need be basis.
* Records, completes, and returns maintenance paperwork to Security Manager/Supervisor
* Performance and Professionalism
* Maintains professional presence when representing Westminster at Lake Ridge; exhibits degree of professionalism consistent with standards in performance, behavior, and appearance.

A Brief Overview
Under the general observation and assistance of a Security Officer II, this entry-level security position is accountable for the day-to-day functions of Security and Safety within the hospital and other assigned CHS entities. Maintains a safe environment by practicing situational awareness and being observant for safety and security concerns and demonstrative initiative in addressing them or causing them to be addressed in a timely manner.
Provides timely information to the Security Control Center Operators to ensure accurate documentation of activity and completes all incident reports in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with policy and SOP.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing a safe and healthy environment for visitors, patients, and employees. Monitors environment to detect potential hazards, notifies appropriate personnel and takes corrective action. Primarily remains on standby in the Emergency Room to deter and/or prevent acts of violence. Notifies the Security Specialist on duty when action is taken. Provides assistance and services to public and employees according to established procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must have certified completion of an approved police training academy and be a sworn law enforcement officer with police powers in the County of Hanover, Virginia.
