The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Claims Manager to lead, develop, and oversee the full freight claims lifecycle for Mountain Valley Express. In this role, you will manage claims from receipt through final resolution, provide guidance to internal departments, and develop processes that support accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. This position plays a key role in risk mitigation and customer satisfaction, ensuring prompt, fair, and well-documented outcomes.
You will partner closely with Operations, Customer Service, Safety, and Accounting leadership, driving accountability while maintaining strong relationships internally and externally.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Claims Leadership & Oversight
• Manage the full freight loss and damage claims process from intake to final settlement
• Develop, improve, and enforce claims procedures aligned with legal and industry standards
• Provide guidance and escalation support on complex or high-value claims
Investigation & Resolution
• Lead investigations, including gathering documentation, statements, and evidence
• Determine claim validity, assess liability, and negotiate resolution or settlement
• Maintain professional communication with customers, carriers, legal representatives, and internal departments
Reporting, Compliance & Analytics
• Monitor claims metrics, identify trends, and recommend process improvements or loss-prevention strategies
• Ensure proper recordkeeping and compliance with NMFC, cargo liability rules, and federal regulations
• Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for leadership review
Cross-Department Collaboration
• Work closely with Operations to identify root causes and corrective actions
• Partner with leadership teams to reduce claim frequency and improve service quality
• Support training and education initiatives relating to cargo handling, documentation, and claim prevention
Skills & Attributes

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; TMS and claim software preferred

Minimum Requirements

The Opportunity
