Founded in 1865, this fantastic resort has since evolved from a quaint farmhouse to a massive, internationally renowned holiday destination.

In 1872, the two constructed a massive manor to replace their farmhouse, which they continued to grow in size.
1872: As the number of visitors increased, so too did William and Mary’s ambitions to expand upon the business.
The Cliff House in Ogunquit, Me., owned by the same family since 1872, with 194 rooms, has sold 22 lots on its 70 acres for private homes over the years.
1900: Herbert Van Dodge commissioned the creation of a spectacular nine-hole golf course.
Under their direction until 1919, the Mountain View was transformed from a medium-sized country inn to a substantial resort complex.
1919: Herbert Van Dodge retired from managing the Mountain View House and handed over its control to his own son, Franklin Schyuler Dodge.
1927: Franklin Schyuler Dodge oversaw the entire renovation of the Mountain View House’s historic main building.
1948: Franklin Schyuler Dodge eventually passed away, leaving the Mountain View House to his wife, Mary Bowden.
In 1967, when John shifted to the field of real estate development, Frank Schuyler took over complete management of the enterprise.
1979: John eventually stepped away from the business, which made Franklin Schuyler Dodge Jr. the sole owner.
1999—Golf course, clubhouse, heated pool, tennis courts, lawn games and wine cellar renovated
2002: The developers finally concluded the extensive restoration of the Mountain View House and reopened it to thunderous applause that May.
2005—Property joins unique collection of historical hotels, including The Biltmore and Le Pavillon
2009: Among the more recent developments to transpire at the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa was the creation of a 121-foot wind turbine.
