Responsibilities
1. Performs mammography tests and develops the results to produce quality breast images for radiologists. Evaluates patient history and physicians orders to ensure appropriate procedures are performed. May assist physicians in special procedures as needed to ensure that all procedures are performed to the standards of PHHS. Accesses and handles selected medications.
2. Processes Quality Control checks on systems in accordance with American College of Radiology, including notifying supervisor of maintenance needs to ensure equipment functions properly.
3. Maintains proper documentation on the Radiology Information System to track the procedures performed on each patient.
4. Communicates and consults with patients informing them of procedures to be performed to ensure that patients are as comfortable as possible.
5. Maintains a positive working relationship with employees, medical staff, patients and visitors to ensure efficient work processes. May be responsible for providing training and supervision to radiologic students as they rotate through mammography area to ensure that radiology students are well educated and trained in assigned areas.
6. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of PHHS.
7. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Mammography area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
8. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of Mammography by attending seminars, reading professional journals and maintaining ARRT certification and Texas State licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
9. Participates in departmental Performance Improvement Programs, understands “ICARE” and it relationship to the work environment, attends department and modality meetings satisfactorily. Develops training and implementation and monitors annual goals and objectives set forth by Radiology Administration.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary/Objective

Essential Functions:
1. Interfaces with patient to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.
2. Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent. Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.
3. Obtains prior films/exams as needed and performs high quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.
4. Performs exams while attending to patient's care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient's condition changes at any time.
5. Transfers images to other locations as needed.
6. Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist.
7. Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.
8. Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.

Work Environment

Often requires work in cool, dimly lighted rooms.

Seeking a RAD MRI Tech Full Time 32 hours per week Friday 3:00pm to Saturday 7:00am Saturday 11:00pm to Sunday 3:00pm Minimum Education Requirements: Accredited school of Radiology with qualified training or certification in MRI. Minimum Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Texas Department of Health CMRT license , ARRT MRI licensure (MR-preferred) and current CPR certification
Minimum Experience Requirements:
1 years of Radiology MRI experience required.
Minimum Skill Requirements:
Computer entry skills; must have excellent communication skills; must be self directed, independent and goal oriented;
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with Diagnostic/CT area and supplement MRI
Verifies physician orders for diagnostic tests / procedures and validates appropriateness of tests with specified diagnosis.
Performs exams / procedures following the department manual and / or the Radiologist's or physician specification(s).
Provides comfort and care with a "patient first" attitude. Anticipates and accommodates needs of patients, families, physicians, and co-workers.
Communicates with respect.
Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, or appropriate literature about exams and after exam care.
Maintains a safe environment be seeking out and correcting safety issues in the Radiology department and the hospital.
Participates with equipment and product service, maintenance, and evaluations. Identifies problems with equipment oversees equipment repairs.
Develops self and continued learning through participation in educational programs and hospital training(s).
Reforms active departmental rounds and room checks.
Oversees stocking and re-ordering of necessary department supplies.
Works will with peers, other disciplines, and departmental staff personnel.
Interacts professionally and pleasantly with all encountered and promotes customer satisfaction.
Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues. Communicates effectively with patients and families and recognizes patient and family as part of the care planning team. Accepts and gives feedback in calm, respectful, non-argumentative manner.
Appropriately and correctly labels images and is able to perform necessary skills to send, store, and troubleshoot PACS system (Synapse) for different modalities.
Appropriately and correctly performs RIS scheduling, data entry, patient tracking, patient report editing and archival, management utility functions, and correctly documents patient history and necessary information for adequate diagnosis.
Communicates and records patient information in logbooks, notes in PACS (when necessary), in the patient chart(s), and on the exam requisitions).
Demonstrates knowledge of exam preps and is able to communicate preps to other healthcare workers, patients, patient families, and physicians.
