CT Tech FT Rotating Position Summary
Performs computerized tomographic procedures for the diagnosis of disease and injury according to protocols established by radiologists.
Responsibilities
Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity.
Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
Collects pertinent patient history and documents on requisition.
Checks for accuracy of ordered exams by comparing to written physician order.
Verifies correct patient by using two forms of identity verification, prior to injecting patient or starting exam.
Maintains patient confidentiality per established CHN policies regarding HIPAA rights and practices.
Completes consent forms as indicated per procedure.
Completes pregnancy forms, oxygen transportation forms, medication reconciliation forms.
Inputs and processes requisitions.
Inputs all pertinent information and provides image/film history to radiologists for review and comparison.
Starts intravenous access as needed and performs I.V. injections using proper technique.
Understands how to treat patients with infiltrated IV sites.
Understands management of patients with elevated Creatinine levels.
Maintains proper oxygen therapy on patients who require oxygen.
Maintains skills required to change oxygen tanks.
Must be able to use masks and nasal canula.
Adjusts rate of O2 flow with mask/nasal canula according to written physician orders.
Secures, transports, and secures e-cylinders.
Maintains radiation safety for women of childbearing age, in accordance with existing imaging department standards.
Documents patient education on requisition or worksheet as appropriate.
THE CT TECH FT ROTATING CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Certification Required: ARRT- R&N (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) and AZ Medical Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (MRTBE).
Certification Required: ARRT- CT; obtain CT Technologist certification within 2 years of hire/transfer date.
Certification Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
EDUCATION

Graduation from an ARRT-certified Health Science Program. One year technologist experience in one of the following: Radiography, MRI or Nuclear Medicine.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Participates in projects and assists in the development and implementation of procedures and policies.
* As an MRITechnologist, incumbent is responsible for quality control activities which include, but are not limited to, making minor adjustments to equipment such as setting up step wedges and when necessary changing transverse length adjusters.
* Performs daily-required calibration tests and recording appropriate equipment errors in the log.
* Recognizes equipment malfunctions, contacts appropriate Service Engineer describes problem and communicates the engineer's response to supervisor and other technologists. After repair of equipment, incumbent verifies that the Service Engineer has performed post repair quality control tests, which indicate that the equipment is operating in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and standards.
* Assists the Branch of Radiology in developing, establishing, and monitoring techniques and procedures fundamental to instituting and maintaining a Radiographic Quality Control program through, (1) Processor monitoring and control, (2) Monitoring equipment performance, and (3) monitoring accessory equipment. The incumbent is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and updating a policy and procedure manual for this specialized area of the Branch of Radiology Services.
* Practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination in various examinations. Ensures that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters and other required equipment are present and laid out.
* Maintains integrity of patient records within the hospital PACS computer system, creates CD copies of exams as requested, quality assurance records, current operating policy manuals and other materials as necessary to insure adequate patient treatment and referral as necessary. Interacts per policy for patient electronic health record needs in professional manner.
* Keeps repair and maintenance records of the radiographic unit.
* Procures stores and routes supplies for room preparation, recommends the procurement and necessity for maintenance and servicing of equipment.
* Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield.
* Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (see CDC website for most current updates)
* Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee and external customer satisfaction.

As a PRN MRITechnologist, you are required to produce cross-sectional images for medical interpretation through radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic purposes. The technologist performs MRI procedures by acquiring and analyzing data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. The technologists independently perform or assist a licensed practitioner in the completion of magnetic resonance imaging procedures. Technologists prepare, administer and document activities related to contrast administration in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy. They will interact with all healthcare staff, many clerical staff members, all patient care departments and with patient's families and visitors through oral communication and documentation in the patient's electronic medical record. This position is held accountable for performing the correct MRI exams and producing high quality diagnostic images, while maintaining proficiency and complying with company policies and procedures. The role will require flexibility with availability as a per-diem technologist, responding promptly to requests for coverage due to absences or vacations, and covering at minimum one shift in a 30 day period.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Be responsible for Patient Safety, including pre-screening for contra-indications, restricting patients, staff, and visitor access related to zones, screening, equipment, and exam scanning as deemed necessary and exercise individual thought, judgment and discretion in the performance of the procedure, aseptic injection technique and may require oversight of remote MRITechnologist Assistants.
Produces high quality diagnostic images in accordance with company imaging protocols, RadSite Accreditation guidelines, and ARRT/ARMRIT practice standards. Maintain levels of quality that meet or exceed customer expectations through process improvement and a team-oriented approach. Demonstrate independent competency in contrast safety and administration, including starting and discontinuing peripheral IV's, and administration of contrast through other vascular access points such as ports, CVL's and PICC lines if indicated. Demonstrate proficiency of Akumin's EMR systems, as well as PACS and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation.
Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators and MR Technologist Assistants, on site and/or through a remote command center as needed.

Position Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification as allowable by contract in lieu of ARRT
