CT Tech FT Days Position Summary Performs computerized tomographic procedures for the diagnosis of disease and injury according to protocols established by radiologists. Responsibilities Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately. Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations. Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted. Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Collects pertinent patient history and documents on requisition. Checks for accuracy of ordered exams by comparing to written physician order. Verifies correct patient by using two forms of identity verification, prior to injecting patient or starting exam. Maintains patient confidentiality per established CHN policies regarding HIPAA rights and practices. Completes consent forms as indicated per procedure. Completes pregnancy forms, oxygen transportation forms, medication reconciliation forms. Inputs and processes requisitions. Inputs all pertinent information and provides image/film history to radiologists for review and comparison. Starts intravenous access as needed, and performs I.V. injections using proper technique. Understands how to treat patients with infiltrated IV sites. Understands management of patients with elevated Creatinine levels. Maintains proper oxygen therapy on patients who require oxygen. Also acceptable is completion of a Radiography Certificate program plus a 12-month Radiation Therapy Certificate program. Experience: Minimum of one year experience as a staff therapist is preferred. Other Requirements: Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current licensure through the Arizona Department of Health Services for Radiation Therapy. CPR certification. Performance Requirements: Knowledge: • Knowledge of radiation therapy theory and applications. • Knowledge of radiation safety protocols. • Knowledge of dosimetry and treatment planning. Skills: • Effectively perform radiation procedures, particularly safety procedures. • Explains radiation plans and treatments to patients and their families. • Identification of unsatisfactory set-up situations and/or errors. Abilities: • Ability to work in team based work setting which places high patient satisfaction as the major focal point for measuring success. • Ability to observe and deal competently and compassionately with patient's emotional condition, maintaining a positive attitude and providing emotional support. • Ability to collaborate effectively with health care team. • Ability to demonstrate manual/finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and agility for use with equipment. Equipment Operated: Radiation equipment and related items such as treatment table, computer hardware and software for documentation purposes. Work Environment: Medical offices and exam rooms. Clean, well-lit, and well ventilated. Exposure to radioactive materials and communicable diseases. Mental/Physical Requirements: Considerable standing (four to six hours per day), walking, sitting, and bending. May need to help transfer patients and lift/carry equipment weighing 75+ pounds.
