Position Summary:
Operates MRI equipment for diagnostic purposes. The employee will demonstrate the ability to display independent judgment and initiative; will consider the age and special characteristics of the patient to optimize patient care. Participates in the growth and development of the department through policy and procedures development, QA activities and provision of continuing education for professional health care workers. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Associates degree from an accredited school of Radiological Technology
At least three months of clinical and on the job training
Registry eligible or registered R.T. (MR) and/or ARMRIT certification. Registry eligible technologist must receive registration
within six months of hire date
BLS required within six months of hire date
* Must be able to operate and perform basic computer programs associated with record keeping in the department
* Must demonstrate excellent human relation skills to deal with patients, physicians and other in sometimes difficult or sensitive situation, including verbal and written communication, problem solving and assertiveness
* Must have a customer service orientation
* Must demonstrate leadership and organization skills including the ability to work independently and take initiative within established procedures

Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.
Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.
* Receives or escorts patients into examination area; reviews pertinent patient information; instructs patient concerning the examination to be performed.
* Provides MRI services according to policy and procedure and considering the age and special characteristics of the patient. This includes all body parts.
* Provides service in a timely manner and completes the work on a timely basis.
* Cleans, maintains and monitors equipment appropriately. Troubleshoots equipment according to manufacturers recommendations.
* Reports equipment problems to supervisor. Calls manufacturers service department in the absence of supervisor.
* Performs first aid as required and assists in cases of adverse reaction to contrast media or in other emergencies.
* Observes and practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
* Provides quality MRI procedures for radiologist interpretation.
* Keeps supervisor informed of all unusual matters. Seeks supervisors advice and counsel and develops a spirit of cooperation in carrying out the work.
* Maintains appropriate supply level in their areas of responsibility.
* Demonstrates or oversees the on the job training for student technologists and other non-professional assistants as assigned.
* Demonstrates or oversees the on the job training for MRI Technologists that have been newly hired or need additional training needs for new procedures.
* Demonstrates excellent customer service when answering the phone.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Ophthalmic Scribe / Technicians use ophthalmic techniques to perform preliminary work-up of patients in a clinic setting, scribes for Physicians and may also directly assist Physician(s) with examinations and treatment of patients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Functions as Scribe which requires knowledge and understanding of retina-specific ophthalmology terminology.
Requires proficient keyboarding skills, use of electronic medical record and image management system.
Utilize electronic mail and other instant messaging systems.
Skilled in ophthalmic terminology, ability to type words accurately with speed and knowledge of ARC Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
Prepares patients and rooms for treatments and minor procedures as directed by the Physician.
Ability to obtain patient's past and current medical and ophthalmic history including information regarding medications, allergies and family history of eye problems.
Identifies any potential patient concerns and brings these issues to the attention of the Office Coordinator or physician as appropriate.
Ability to measure and record both distance and near visual acuity and pinhole acuity; performs preliminary refraction using objective equipment.
Ability to measure intraocular pressures by applanation tonometry, pneumatonometry and/or use of tonopen, checks pupillary response to light and pupillary defects (will be trained)
Performs basic visual field testing and patient education as directed by Physician.
Prepares patients for treatments and minor procedures; measures and records vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate) as required.
Successfully completes and maintains scribe certification. Upon certification, completes appropriate computerized orderentry under the direction of the Physician per regulatory and professional guidelines.
Instills eye drops as directed by the physician. Assists in the application of dressings, shields and eye patches.
Basic understanding of examination and procedure codes (ICD-9 codes) when inputting into the Electronic Medical Records system.
Ensures that accurate procedure coding/charges for all procedures/drugs for all patients and correct diagnosis codes are used.
Keeps examination, treatment, laser and any other assigned rooms cleaned and stocked with supplies, keeps drug count up to date.
Provides consistent, excellent customer service.
May consent patient for treatment and procedures.
Performs OCT on patients with speed and accuracy and assists physician with treatments when needed.
Assists with patient transfers as necessary.
Travel to other locations as assigned.
Responsibilities may be dependent on specific location and not required of all employees in that position.
Performs all other duties as assigned, which may include assisting in other departments within Associated Retinal Consultants and at other locations.
Duties assigned may include clerical functions such as filing, key boarding, scheduling patients, cleaning, stocking or other tasks as needed.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or higher.
Strong attention to detail and expert keyboard (Scribe) skills.

On-call Radiation Therapist

The Radiation Therapist at WMCC is responsible for using simulators/linear accelerators to administer treatment as prescribed the Radiation Oncologist. Essential Functions:
Safely & effectively operate a variety of computerized simulation & treatment machines.
Maintains working knowledge of and adheres to all universal precautions and principles of radiation safety.
Accurately records all treatment data in patient's electronic medical record.
Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like. Low risk of exposure to radiation. Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Required. Comprehensive knowledge of radiation therapy acquired through accredited radiation therapy program required. Required Knowledge and Skills: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification in radiation therapy or registry eligible (must obtain certification within 6 months). Minimum of 1 year clinical work in a radiation therapy department. Previous experience in health care environment highly desirable. Must have or be able to obtain BLS certification. Excellent interpersonal skill to interact effectively with management, employees, peers and the general public. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to interpret, comprehend and complete complicated and detailed projects in a timely manner. Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently. High degree of integrity to keep confidential all information related to WMCC patients, employees, physicians, and institution related information. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally to waist-high level. Requires assisting patients up to 420 pounds utilizing safe lifting techniques & equipment provided. The MRI team is comprised of 20 MRI technologists that support outpatient, inpatient and ED needs at two locations. It is a department that is comprehensive, progressive, and team oriented. **MRI Technologist Position Summary:**
The MRI Technologist performs a wide variety of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations, producing high quality diagnostic images. This role assists in maintaining an orderly and clean work environment and, on occasion, performs routine clerical tasks.
**What the MRI Technologist will do:**
+ Performs variety of examinations with MRI Equipment, producing high-quality diagnostic MRI scans.
+ Properly positions patients for exam.
+ Maintains MRI patient safety by investigating, evaluating, coordinating device reps (when applicable), and clearing all patients for entry into Zone 4.
+ Evaluates the quality of images.
+ Administers specific MRI contrast and materials.
+ Assists Radiologist in performing routine and/or special procedures.
+ Assesses patient's condition to determine appropriate procedure and technique.
+ Provides instruction to MRI students.
+ Explains exam and procedures and acquires patient history.
+ Monitors safety and comfort of patient through the exam.
**What the MRI Technologist will need:**
+ Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) approved Radiologic Technology Program, Nuclear Medicine Technology program and/or an MRI specific curriculum.
+ American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification, or Nuclear Medicine Technology Registry (CNMT) and/or or board eligible within 6 months of hire. Must be ARRT(MR) certified within 2 years of hire. Must maintain 24 continuing education credits per biennium to retain registry.
+ Certification or re-certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three months of hire.
+ Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs. and perform push/pull tasks that require a maximum force of 35 lbs.
+ Preferred: ARRT certification in MRI.
+ Preferred: One year of experience as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist or two years of experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist or Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
