Delivers prescribed daily dose to patient, observing radiation safety measures for patient and personnel. Prepares room and equipment for patient according to prescription or simulation regarding immobilization devices, etc., transfers patient to treatment couch, giving attention to the special needs of the patient. Observes patients for unusual reactions and for signs and symptoms of developing complications during treatment, reporting reactions and complications to supervisor and department physician Maintains a variety of records, including, records of daily treatment; maintains and regularly reviews patient charts to eliminate errors and to ensure that blood counts and special reports are properly recorded. Provides clinical supervision and evaluates students' practical ability to perform procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Labels images completely with patient demographics, position, or other required documentation. Follows through with all aspects of scanning duties to provide efficient and timely completion of examinations with correct data entry, begin and complete with correct billing and verification that images are in PACS. Technologists prescreen all patients for sensitivity to medication materials. Implements the correct types of contrast and injection factors on a case- by-case basis. Films or burns a CD of selected images on hard copy in a manner, which best illustrates anatomy and pathology specific to each individual examination. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Graduate of an approved magnetic resonance imaging course that meets current qualifications to apply for and take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) board exam in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) upon hire. Must be ARRT (MR) certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, or ARMRIT American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists within 6 months of hire. Operate and perform general technical maintenance on MRI systems and associated computer equipment, including disk drives, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions. Responsible to adhere to all established National Patient Safety Goals, and report errors or unsafe conditions to manager and the OHSU Event Reporting (Patient Safety Intelligence).
