Essential Job Function
Perform MRI procedures.
Perform general Radiography procedures.
Responsible for performing IVs on patients as necessary for contrast studies.
Perform i-Stat creatinine testing.
Proactively assesses, identifies, and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures.
Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations and contributes to department for quality and safety. Reports “near misses” and errors promptly to improve processes and identify trends. Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate.
Verify hardcopy/electronic orders and ensure correct procedures are being performed.
Welcome and escort patient to the dressing room, explain procedures and answer patient questions.
Screen patients or any other individuals who enters the MRI room for metal, implants, and other safety hazards.
Screen for pregnant patients, properly position patients to ensure that the result will be the highest quality images.
Assign exams and finalize procedures to the correct radiologist in the corresponding system, i.e.: RIS, PACS.
Maintain accurate patient history and other medical records including, but not limited to QC logs and service records.
Ensure proper handling of STAT exams.
Practice infectious control procedures and ensure overall safety practices at all times.
Oversee maintenance and provide troubleshooting of MRI equipment to include monitoring and ensuring appropriate helium levels; ensure use of equipment consistent with manufacturer's instructions.
Track, order and maintain MRI related medical supplies; e.g.: Film, CDs, cleaning supplies, needles, tape, etc.
Stock and maintain linens properly.
Open/close clinics including the activation/deactivation of alarms.
Keep up with and ensure own work schedule.
Perform other duties as assigned including administrative backup and support.
Educational and Skill Requirements
Minimum of 2 years experience as an MRITechnologist.
Minimum of 2 years experience as a Radiographer.
Certified by the State of Texas to practice and administer radiation.
Have current, unrestricted registration or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or from another recognized certification agency for each ADI modality performed.

The MRI Specialist will be responsible for multiple duties including:

Serve as the technical expert in advanced imaging, operating MRI, CT, DEXA, and diagnostic X-ray equipment with accuracy, safety, and compassion

Key Responsibilities
Welcome and address members, staff, and visitors with friendliness, professionalism, and courtesy
Operate Cat Scan, DEXA, MRI, and X-ray equipment in accordance with established protocols and safety standards
Prepare and position members for CT, DEXA, and radiographic procedures, maintaining modesty, privacy, and confidentiality
Prepare and administer IV solution sets and contrast agents as ordered
Screen all members for MRI safety before procedure performance
Perform complex MRI tasks using high-field-strength magnets and advanced equipment
Position members for MRI scans using protective and immobilization equipment to ensure regulatory compliance and safety
Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, process images appropriately, and label with clarity
Explain all preparations clearly to members and obtain proper consent
Maintain accurate records and reports associated with imaging procedures
Provide PPE and ensure adherence to CDC and Fountain Life infection prevention protocols
Assist with quality control tasks and safety audits as required
Report hazardous conditions or faulty equipment immediately to the appropriate personnel
Maintain imaging spaces in a neat, safe, and organized condition always
Demonstrate calm, decisive action in emergencies and high-stress situations
Foster a positive and respectful working relationship with all care team members
Assist in onboarding and training new employees as needed
Actively contribute to an environment of warmth, calm, and clinical excellence throughout the day
Uphold all patient rights, including dignity, equity, privacy, and autonomy
Your Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in Radiologic Technology or related field
ARRT, ARMRIT, or equivalent certification in radiologic or MRI technology
Current and unrestricted state license as required by law
Advanced certification in MRI and/or CT preferred
2+ years of experience in a radiology or diagnostic imaging setting, ideally in a high-performance, client-centric environment
Proven ability to perform with calmness and professionalism in a fast-paced medical setting
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a hospitality-minded approach
Technical fluency with imaging equipment, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
