Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist, the Radiation therapists plan and apply ionizing radiation to the patient in accordance with the prescription and instructions from the radiation oncologist or radiation physicist.
They provide specific care to patients during treatment and educate patients regarding procedures as well as how to deal with radiation reactions.
In accordance with the prescription and instructions of a radiation oncologist, they produce an external beam treatment plan for each patient, with alternatives if necessary, either by the use of a treatment planning computer.
Radiation therapists must observe radiation safety measures for patients, personnel and visitors.
The Therapist delivers the treatment and promptly and accurately documenting the treatment and any notes into the electronic medical record.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
* Must hold or obtain current licensure with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with (T) credential.
* BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
* Comprehension of standard radiation therapy techniques; principles of radiation physics.
* Must be able to utilize Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical record software.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs a variety of Magnetic Resonance procedures independently in accordance with existing policies and procedures within the MRI suite.
2. Completes proper and comprehensive patient screening prior to MRI examination and/or IV contrast administration.
3. Assesses technical quality of images before giving such to the Radiologist; performs repeats as necessary.
4. Documents appropriate patient information necessary for exam interpretation and patient care.
5. Able to start IV's for contrast administration and blood draws for pre-contrast screening as needed.
6. Administers intravenous contrast under the direction of the Radiologist.
7. Answers questions and provides information to center customers, including nursing staff, physicians, and the general public on MR procedures, crosssectional, longitudinal and oblique imaged anatomy, and MRI physics.
8. Troubleshoots technical problems and works with the vendors to resolve problems that arise.
9. Maintains flexibility as department grows with a willingness to accept additional responsibilities requested by department director.
10. Demonstrates age-specific competency for the following groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

Essential Functions of a Mammography Technologist:
Uses specialized equipment to capture breast images and ensures accuracy.
Explains mammogram procedures to patients, addressing their concerns and anxieties.

Explains mammogram procedures to patients, addressing their concerns and anxieties.
Positions patients for exams, ensuring comfortable and accurate positioning.
Monitors the condition of patients in the department and assists the radiologist or other physicians in performing needed medical attention.
Review and evaluate the quality of breast images.
Performs clerical work related to the obtaining of previous reports, X-ray films, etc.
Ensures the safety of both patients and staff by adhering to radiation protection measures.
Maintains accuracy of patient records and documentation related to mammogram procedures.
Work as part of a team to assist radiologists, fellow technologists, and office staff as needed
Required Skills/Abilities:
Possesses a skilled level and working knowledge of Mammography scanning technology.
Competency in instructing fellow Mammography Technologists in the art of scanning.
Ability to communicate with radiologists and other healthcare providers about images and patient care.
Demonstrates skill and knowledge to identify abnormalities while performing Mammography scans.
Initiative to obtain additional scans, views, or extremely technical factors to provide maximum information for the radiologist to make an accurate diagnosis.

ARRT(M) Certification
CPR/BLS Certification
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
