CT Techs also maintain equipment, keep patient records, and follow safety procedures to minimize radiation exposure and provide compassionate care to patients throughout the imaging process. Essential Work Functions: Operate CT equipment to produce cross-sectional images of bones, organs, and tissue for diagnostic purposes Prepare patients for procedures, explain imaging process, and position patients appropriately Set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology Provide high-quality images to Radiologist for interpretation Adhere to radiation safety standards and hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CT equipment to ensure proper functionality Document patient information, imaging parameters, and procedural details accurately in the hospital's system Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver timely diagnostic services Ability to adapt to different CT equipment and protocols across various healthcare facilities Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of CT Tech practice Required Essential Skills: Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an A.M.A. approved school of Radiography Education. Must have ARRT or CRT and State of New Jersey License. Preferred: Experience: Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Scheduling Requirements: Full-Time Nights, 830p-7a, at Morris Cancer Center - New Brunswick, NJ, will also have responsibilities at University Hospital and Plum St. Imaging Center on the New Brunswick Campus. All three buildings are connected by bridge. Essential Functions: Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures. As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Secures and returns supplies. Maintains room and room's stock. Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated. Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service. Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly. Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration. Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations. Uses the computer system according to standard operating procedures: Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases. Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary. Attends in-service training as required by the department Able to attend the majority of educational in-services. Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures. Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation.
