What you will do
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Mammography Technologist to perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammograms. This role includes preparing patients for procedures, operating and maintaining imaging equipment, and ensuring compliance with radiation safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate with radiologists and healthcare teams to deliver accurate imaging while maintaining patient comfort and confidentiality.
Mammographer Summary of Job Responsibilities:
Conduct mammograms for screening and diagnostic purposes.
Educate and prepare patients for procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
Operate and maintain mammography equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
Adhere to safety protocols and radiation protection standards.
Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate imaging.
Maintain detailed patient records and manage documentation in accordance with HIPAA.
Ensure compliance with CA DPH regulations and maintain licensure and training standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year experience as a Mammography Technologist in a hospital
American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R)(M)
California Dept. of Public Health (CRT)
Experience in screening and diagnostic
At least 6 months of diagnostic biopsy experience preferred
Proof of Continuing Education Units (CEU's) if applicable
Current CPR Card issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Must have proof of MMR, Varicella vaccinations or titers.
Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 Months
Current Annual Health Clearance

This is a non-exempt hourly position with possible earnings of $131k - $141k/year with up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus, plus relocation and travel allowance for longer commutes.

DEFINITION:
Exercises direct technical and administrative supervision over a unit performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
* Plans, organizes, and participates in the work of an MRI unit to assure that all imaging is done expeditiously and meets requisite standards of quality and safety.
* Reads orders and schedules patients in accordance with protocol or physician's direction. Consults with referring physicians as required.
* Provides practical instruction and technical direction to technologists, students, and other health care professionals in the procedures and techniques used in MRI examinations.
* Resolves problems for technologists with respect to selecting optimal imaging coil, positioning patient, and selecting protocol and parameters for each procedure to obtain desired results.
* Troubleshoots all equipment failures and difficulties and performs appropriate quality assurance procedures, tests and measures.
* Checks machines and control settings for conformance with State regulations to ensure the safety of patients and health services personnel.
* Inspects work area and equipment, controls inventory, and orders needed supplies and maintenance services within specified limits.
* Coordinates with physicians, support staff, and other health care professionals to facilitate operations.
* Counsels subordinates, prepares performance evaluations, reports employee relations problems, and reports on work performed by the unit.
* Enforces safety regulations and compliance with departmental regulations, policies, and procedures.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
Option I - One year of experience as an MRITechnologist II* in the County of Los Angeles.
Option II - Three years of experience as a registered MRITechnologist at the level of MRITechnologist II.
LICENSE:
* Registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) -OR- American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) (and completion of a 12 month, or longer, course in magnetic imaging technology which included a clinical training component) - AND - a *California Venipuncture Certificate which permits venous access are required.
PHYSICAL CLASS III - Moderate: Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION:
* To qualify under Option I, applicant must hold or have held the payroll title of MRITechnologist II with the Los Angeles County.
Experience at the level of MRITechnologist II in the County of Los Angeles is defined as: under general supervision, operates magnetic resonance imaging scanners to obtain a full-range of images of delicate anatomical structures for physicians to diagnose pathological and traumatic disorders.
* Applications submitted without the required certificate, and/or permit will be considered incomplete until such information is provided. The original license, certificate, and/or permit must be presented during the selection process and prior to appointment.
The required certificate, and/or permit MUST be current and unrestricted; a conditional, provisional, probationary or restricted license will NOT be accepted.
Official transcript must be provided showing completion of a 12 month, or longer course in magnetic imaging technology, which included a clinical training component.
* Venipuncture certificate issued by a legitimate establishment within the State of California would be considered towards satisfaction of the requirements for qualification for this exam.
EXAMINATION CONTENT
This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience based on application information, weighted 100%.
Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on this examination to be added to the eligible register.

MRI tech (per diem) Shift Notes: 8.00AM -5.00PM The MRITechnologist performs a variety of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures on patients of all ages to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The technologist ensures high-quality images, patient safety, and compliance with all established protocols and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform MRI procedures according to physician orders and department protocols.
Verify patient identity, obtain pertinent medical history, and ensure proper screening for MRI safety.
Position patients and operate MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images.
Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures, maintaining effective communication throughout the exam.
Review images for quality and accuracy before submitting to the radiologist for interpretation.
Maintain accurate records of exams performed, contrast usage, and patient information.
Follow radiation and MRI safety protocols, including magnet zone regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of MRI equipment and work area.
Assist with training new technologists or students when assigned.
Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI program.
Certification/Licensure:
ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required.
Current BLS certification (AHA) required.
State licensure as applicable.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of MRI experience

Maintains professional standards as outlined in the department and contributes to total patient care by accessing pertinent patient information, processes images, ensures correct capture, and works closely with their co-workers. The Technologist typically sees 35-40 patients daily in a team with 2-3 other Technologists. The Technologist will perform other activities in support of clinical team members when not engaged in imaging activities.
Essential Responsibilities

Warms up MRI machines in the morning upon arrival to work and ensures that machines are in good working order.
Ensures that MRI rooms are stocked with sufficient supplies for all exams scheduled for that day.
Discusses procedures with patients and answering any questions patients may have.
Perform MRI exams in a safe manner in accordance with standard protocol and procedures.
Prepares work areas and materials as necessary for the completion of exams.
Demonstrates ability to start I.V. and maintain access.
Demonstrates knowledge of contrast limitations and exceptions.
Consistently uses patient identifiers before performing an exam.
Meets regulatory requirements for licensures/certification renewal and complies with Tower's in-service training, attendance, punctuality, uniform, and dress code.
Maintains utmost confidentiality in handling company and sensitive patient information, documents and films/CDs. Meets all requirements for confidential information management, including access and distribution controls, password policies, HIPAA and CPI compliance, secure filing and disposal, and records retention and storage.

Education and Experience
Education - Completion of ACR- approved school for Radiologic Technology.
Work Experience - Minimum 3 years' experience as an MRItechnologist.
Certifications and Licensures - Current ARRT Certificate or ARMRIT certificate, MRI, RT (X-ray), Current BLS provider card, and Venipuncture Certificate.
Medical - Strong working knowledge of medical terminology and cross sectional anatomy.
Equipment - MRI and X-Ray equipment.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of MRI safety required.
Knowledge of blood borne pathogen requirements.
Needs to be excellent at IV access.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to work flexible schedules as needed.
Strong organizational skills, problem solving skills, basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Exposures
Must be able to work safely around 1.5T and 3T machines.
Frequent standing, walking and sitting; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling and crouching.
Hand and finger mobility for use of reaching and manipulating keyboards and other imaging equipment.
Occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
Demonstrates, observes, and complies with Tower safety, infection prevention and control policies/procedures; uses required personal protective equipment.
Exposure to potential hazards such as radiation emitting equipment, extreme heat or cold, chemicals, bio-hazard waste and sharp instruments.
Noise level: typical of an office and medical clinic environment.
Additional Information
Must be willing to work weekends or overtime when scheduled and authorized.
Responsible for completion of continuing education credits sufficient to retain current licensure at own cost and on own time.

Lifts, positions, pushes, and transfers patients, supplies, and/or equipment as needed
Performs related clerical duties such as sending images to PACS, archiving images, and case editing of computer requests and reports
As required, maintains records and enters patient information into the computer through the use of the Radiology Veterans Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) package
Qualifications
English language proficiency
ARRT(CT) certified (required)
Graduate of an accredited Joint Review Committee on Education of Radiologic Technologists (JRCERT) program, and have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience
Note - Student internship and training time spent in a radiology setting does not count toward the two (2) years of experience
Experience with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), experience with Agfa PACS is preferred but not required
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
