The MRI Technologist responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Performs all body imaging and diagnostic procedures involved in MRI.
Assists/Performs in equipment calibration and quality control procedures in a timely manner.
Positions/Transfers patients in a timely manner maintaining the safety of the patients and their physical requirements.
Assists the Radiologists with in-depth procedures.
Explains procedures to patients and answers questions.
Provides Radiology support in all imaging modalities.
Administers radiographic contrast in accordance to the request of the physician and the departmental policy and procedure manual.
Completes initial IV set-up prep for IV insertion for scan procedure including: IV Prep, IV Insertion, and IV Positioning to secure utilization for proper aseptic technique. Reports to the Lead CT/MRI Technologist, and/or Operations Manager/Director.
This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements.

* Provides care to all patients according to Imaging Services policy and procedure and patient care standards.
* Performs imaging procedures independently by interpreting the order, assessing the patient, completing necessary paperwork, positions the patient, selecting appropriate equipment and supplies, selecting accurate technique factors, making exposures, processes, critiques and prepares films for interpretation.
* Demonstrates knowledge and competence of C-arm and/or computer tomography.
* Performs procedures in Surgery, ER, ICU and other nursing units using portable equipment.
* Generates patient requisitions through order entry, assigns x-ray numbers, markings the film with the correct patient information, pulls folders, files reports, files folders, and acknowledges patient charges.
* Transportation of patients as needed to and from the Imaging services department.
* Practices radiation safety techniques and is responsible for marking and labeling films correctly.
* Assist the radiologist during fluoroscopic and other special procedures requiring sterile technique.
* Ability to take directions from physicians and supervisors and follow through in a concise manner, which promotes efficiency.

Qualifications:

Under general supervision, produces specialized images to aid the medical staff in the proper diagnosis and treatment of patients using computed tomography equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:

Operates a computed tomography (CT) scanner to produce cross-sectional radiographs of a patient's body for diagnostic purposes.

Experience: 0-3 years of experience required. CT experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Registration from the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) required within 6 months of hire. Advanced Certification in CT by the ARRT required within 12 months of hire. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
Minimum Qualifications (Level 2):

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist in formulation and maintenance of records. Ensure support and proper documentation for all quality assurance standards, to include, but not limited to, patient screening forms, examination journal entries, record-keeping of all supplies/medications administered, and compliance with designated image archive medium.
Identify, interview, and screen patients and visitors to meet all standard safety operating procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, screening for persons with pacemakers, implanted electronic or metallic devices or aneurysm clips; communication with patient regarding procedure; order verification and patient identification; and conducts pre/post assessment of patient/visitor.
Identify, interview, and screen patients for possible contraindications to contrast material. Administers contrast materials while adhering to prescribed aseptic technique at the direction of radiologist. Notify physician of adverse reactions (i.e., patient identification, power injector operations, and conscious sedation procedures, etc.).
Initiate delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in performing radiology services for patient population served (i.e., anatomical position, proper breathing instruction, effective MR imaging coil selection, compliance with procedure protocols, etc.).
Maintain and enhance personal professional skills and remains current in scan techniques or technologies by attending educational programs, seminars, conferences, or workshops.
Maintain equipment and supplies and notifies manufacture and supervisor of equipment malfunction. Records machine malfunctions in designated journals.
Operate scanner equipment, camera, and peripherals in a safe prescribed manner to ensure quality, cost effective images with maximum comfort possible for the patient.
Monitor patient condition at all times while in department.
Participate in improving standards of the department as new managerial and technical concepts and methods evolve.
Review and evaluate completed images for quality and completeness according to radiologist guidelines (i.e., proper selection of film size, proper film format, etc.).
Orient students and other new department employees on department policies and procedures.
