Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a MRI Technologist - Outpatient NYU Imaging - East Meadow - Part Time. In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of a Radiologist, operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performs procedures according to established standards and practices, including patient identification, safety standards and completion of required forms before allowing a patient to leave zone area. Job Responsibilities: Accurately utilizes the PACS (Picture Archival System) to make images available to the radiologist for interpretation with minimum number of exceptions. Enters proper exam coding in the Radiology Information System and arrives and completes exams in a timely fashion. Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion. Instructs and supervises radiography students in clinical practicum. Works with the radiography student to perform exams as well as performing individual image evaluation. Performs other duties as assigned Operates MRI equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas parts as ordered. Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by the radiologist. Prepares and positions or immobilizes patients properly and provides clear and concise instructions regarding the procedure before beginning an exam. Ensures quality review of the images fall within the guidelines of departmental SOP (Standard operating protocol). Practices safety protocols with regard to patient and employee safety when in range of magnetic field. Ensures MRI safety protocols are practiced. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services. New York State Radiologic Technologist License or New York State Radiologic Technologist Temp Permit. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Advanced Certification in MRI required within 180 days of Hire or transfer. Strong communication (both written and oral), problem solving, and customer service skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree In Radiology Program or related Health field. 1 - 2 years MRI technologist or training experience. Job Description Orthopaedic Specialty Group, P.C., is currently seeking a per diem MRI Technologist. As an MRI Technologist you will be responsible for maintaining imaging equipment to ensure that patients are protected and in an optimal position for imaging. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal communication skills as well the ability to communicate and engage with physicians, and patients. MRI Technologist will be responsible for gathering patient medical histories, explaining the scanning process, as well as review and document all patient related records. The MRI Technologist is also responsible for assisting Radiologist with special procedures such as arthrograms. Candidates should have both technical and physical strength necessary to operate the scanner. Educational Requirements: Associate Degree or equivalent 2- year college or technical school ARRT (R) required ARRT (R)(MRI) preferred Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform MRI procedures as ordered with a high level of quality, care and timeliness. Escort patients to dressing rooms and procedure room. Explain MRI procedures and answer any questions or concerns. Maintain and follow all MRI safety guidelines. Complete related paperwork. Administer I.V. contrast. Conduct Quality Control when needed, monitor machine and equipment reporting any malfunctions to site supervisor/manager. Assist Radiologist with Arthrogram procedure. Assist in keeping the scan room clean and stocked. Other: Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice. Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions. Attends regular staff meetings and continuing education sessions as requested. Typical Physical Demands: Work may require sitting for long periods of time, and also stooping, bending and stretching for supplies. Position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a computer and MRI equipment, and other office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. Position also requires viewing computer screens and typing for long periods of time.
