This Work on Weekend (WOW) position is an every weekend commitment on night shift at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Hours are Saturday, Sunday, Monday 7:00p - 7:30a. This weekend commitment comes with an additional premium weekend, night shift differential. The MRI Technologist prepares patients for testing (including thorough screening questioning), assists the radiologist during testing, operates the MRI equipment for a variety of procedures, maintains supply inventory in assigned rooms, and covers call duty, as assigned. Responsibilities And Duties: Operates MRI equipment, including the magnet, injectors, independent consoles, physiological patient monitors, and cardiac gating/monitoring equipment. Uses equipment to properly adjust pulse sequences according to body part and diagnosis. Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomic positioning skills. Performs daily safety and quality control checks for the system. Sends images to PACS for interpretation. Transfers images to independent console for further manipulation. Reformats and performs post processing of images for radiologist interpretation. Administers MRI contrast agents. They are responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile environments, ensuring equipment functionality, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team to maximize patient safety and procedural efficiency. Essential Work Functions: Set up the operating room prior to surgical procedures Stock surgical supplies and inspect surgical machines and equipment to ensure proper functionality prior to procedures Assist in transporting patients to and from surgery as required Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and the surgical team to deliver coordinated care Anticipate the surgeon's needs, efficiently passing instruments to maintain procedural flow Handle specimens with precision and care to maintain diagnostic integrity and follow institutional protocols Collaborate with other health team members to ensure seamless surgical workflow Maintain sterility by cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment in compliance with infection control standards Utilize data from surgical preference cards for the surgical procedure and surgeon Maintain proficiency in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including open and closed heart surgeries Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards Required Essential Skills: Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.
