Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an A.M.A. approved school of Radiography Education.
Must have ARRT or CRT and State of New Jersey License.
Preferred:
Experience: Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Scheduling Requirements:
Full-Time Nights, 830p-7a, at Morris Cancer Center - New Brunswick, NJ, will also have responsibilities at University Hospital and Plum St. Imaging Center on the New Brunswick Campus. All three buildings are connected by bridge.
Essential Functions:
Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures.
Performs the preparation in order to insure the prompt commencement of the procedure.
Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.
Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents.
Protects patients and other personnel by administrating proper radiation protection techniques.
Protects the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required.
Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.
Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture.
Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Secures and returns supplies. Maintains room and room's stock.
Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated. Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service.
Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly.
Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration.
Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations.
Uses the computer system according to standard operating procedures:
Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases.
Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.
Attends in-service training as required by the department
Able to attend the majority of educational in-services.
Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures.
Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation.
Assists in the instruction of student technologists

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Interpret and follow physician orders accurately, ensuring clarity and adherence to best practices
Clearly explain procedures, medications, or contrast media to patients, addressing their purpose, effects, and ensuring patient understanding and comfort
Review patient history and MR safety assessments to ensure a safe and high-quality imaging experience
Position patients appropriately and perform MR scans in accordance with physician specifications
Maintain clear communication with patients during procedures to ensure comfort and reduce anxiety
Insert IV catheters, prepare contrast, and operate power injectors per protocol
Evaluate scan images for quality, label and document them according to standards
Clean, maintain, and operate MRI equipment, collaborating with application specialists as needed
Assist in the education and training of clinical staff
Collaborate with radiologists to develop and troubleshoot protocols and imaging techniques
Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
Active ARRT, ARMRIT or NMTCB certification
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field
Proven experience as a MRI Technologist, with a strong understanding of MRI imaging principles and protocols
Experience with with PACS systems (AMBRA preferred)
Deep familiarity with MRI equipment (Siemens preferred)
Experience with Whole Body MRI (not mandatory)
Knowledge of anatomy, MRI physics and IV administration
