Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an MRI education program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Registered MRITechnologist (R.T. (MR)) - through ARRT
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years full-time MRItechnologist experience
Hands-on experience operating GE and Siemens MRI scanners
Licensure/Registration:
Current registration with ARRT as a Registered MR Technologist (R.T. (MR))

Key Responsibilities
Greet and prepare patients for MRI procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety
Clearly explain procedures and provide compassionate care to alleviate patient anxiety
Accurately position patients and make necessary adjustments for optimal imaging
Perform a full range of MRI scans independently, in accordance with MTF policies and Joint Commission (JC) standards
Conduct daily equipment checks, quality control scans, and routine maintenance
Identify abnormalities during scans and alert physicians to urgent findings
Stock and manage MRI suite supplies; recommend repairs when imaging quality is impacted
Set up and program scanning protocols, including site-specific techniques
Operate independently, covering shifts without direct supervision when necessary
Differentiate between imaging artifacts and clinical findings; recognize equipment limitations
Follow strict infection control standards and safety protocols

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3 years' experience as a MRITechnologist
EDUCATION:
Must have a minimum associate's degree in Radiology or be a graduate of an accredited two-year radiology program.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography, or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMIT) and maintain current valid registration from ARRT or ARMIT. MR advanced registration through ARRT or ARMIT is required upon hire for IDTF centers. Non-IDTF centers require MR advanced registry within the first 12 months of employment. Additionally, must meet the state licensure requirement for the state in which they practice.

Knowledge of routine to complex MRI procedures and protocols.
Skill in operation of MRI equipment as well as applicable ancillary equipment.

The MRITechnologist reports to the MRI Scientific Director and works closely with the Office of Environmental Health and Laboratory Safety, faculty, and students. The MRITechnologist supports research activities conducted within the MRI suite and implements the MRI Safety Program. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
MRI Scanner Operation
* Operates the MRI scanner to include routine and experimental setup and modification of scanning parameters to optimize data;
* Performs daily quality assurance testing;
* Trouble-shoots scanner malfunction;
* Maintains documentation and records for participant screening, quality assurance data, incidental findings, and scanning time;
* Organizes, archives, and facilitates the transfer of acquired imaging data; and
* Assists with the review and notification of incidental findings.
MRI Safety Management
* Participates in the continued development of policies and procedures for safety and operations of the MRI suite;
* Conducts safety screening of all users of the MRI suite and approves or denies access to the suite based on training proficiency and screening results;
* In cooperation with the Environmental Health & Safety Office, facilitates user compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements regarding MRI safety and operations; Ceases or suspends unsafe activities and instances of non-compliance until issues are resolved and corrective actions are taken;
* Reports unsafe activities and issues of non-compliance to the MRI director, IBI Executive Director, and Director of Environmental Health and Laboratory Safety;

Support users of the MRI Scanner

* Monitors and ensures temperature requirements are maintained for the scanner (water and helium levels);
* Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of the MRI facility to include cleaning floors and surfaces, and leaving trash can outside of the facility to be emptied by housekeeping staff;
* Assures a safe work environment for facilities personnel to conduct maintenance services;
* Maintains supply of disposable equipment and other supplies for the MRI suite;
* Coordinates with the IBI Office Manager to facilitate billing;
* Coordinates with IBI Executive Director to provide access to authorized individuals; and
* Coordinates with Facilities, EHS, and University Police as necessary regarding maintenance, safety, incident response, and security of the MRI suite. -
Required Qualifications:
* Vocational or technical training in related field;
* Demonstrated experience working as an MRItechnologist (typically two or more years);
* Successful completion of AMA-sponsored School of Radiologic Technology program;
* Ability to safely and independently move, push, and pull heavy equipment, supplies and subjects;

USGP is currently seeking a highly skilled MRITechnologist to provide diagnostic imaging services to our nation's military service members, veterans, and their families at the prestigious Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an MRI education program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and recommended by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Registered MR Technologist (R.T. (MR)) certification through ARRT
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of full-time MRItechnologist experience
Proficiency with GE and Siemens MRI scanners
Immunization Requirements
(Must be current or completed upon hire)
Hepatitis B (series and titer)
Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
Varicella (Chickenpox)
TB (Tuberculosis) test
Seasonal Influenza (flu) vaccine

Key Responsibilities
Operate MRI systems in accordance with facility protocols and Joint Commission (JC) standards
Perform a full range of MRI exams without need for additional training
Accurately interpret instructions and independently adjust imaging sequences as needed
Identify abnormalities and notify radiologist of urgent findings
Perform venipuncture for IV contrast administration
Prepare and position patients safely and comfortably for MRI procedures
Set up and operate MRI coils, monitoring devices, and patient response systems
Conduct quality control checks to ensure high-quality imaging results
Communicate effectively with patients throughout the procedure to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation
Maintain and clean MRI equipment and work areas per facility policy
Perform inventory checks and restock supplies as needed
Monitor patient conditions and initiate emergency protocols when required
Ensure safety protocols are followed, particularly related to metal implants or devices
Stay current on ARRT-required continuing education and maintain all professional certifications
Additional Expectations
Demonstrate professionalism and sound clinical judgment
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and infection control standards
Actively participate in training, orientation, and competency programs
Collaborate with other healthcare team members and provide feedback on patient care
Monitor equipment for malfunctions and initiate repair requests as needed
Adhere to all hospital policies and regulatory guidelines
