The physicians of Valley Radiology Consultants have been serving the North San Diego County area since 1971. offer our patients a full range of imaging services in two outpatient centers in Poway and Escondido. Our group of physicians is accompanied by a dedicated support staff of radiology technologists, administrative assistants and management personnel, and we would like for you to join our team as a Per Diem status MRITECHNOLOGIST.
As an outpatient clinic, all hours worked will be daytime hours with no call, and we are closed on Sundays and major holidays! Valley Radiology clinics are open Mon - Fri 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, and some Saturdays, so Per Diem shifts can be flexible, and will be scheduled during those times.
Valley Radiology has 2 locations in Escondido, CA and Poway, CA
Responsibilities:
As an MRITechnologist at Valley Radiology, your primary role is caring for our patients by performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and other imaging modalities.
Education & Licensure
• Graduate of a 2-year accredited school of Radiologic Technology or comparable training. Current ARRT certification in MRI
• Venipuncture Certification
• BLS Certification
Work Experience
• MINIMUM 2 YEARS MRI experience in a busy imaging center.
• Experience in an outpatient Radiology clinical setting preferred.
Specific Skills Desired:
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within prescribed exam times and follow all VRC imaging protocols.
• Must possess understanding of the functionality of medical office operations, radiation safety, patient safety, desired patient through-put while providing optimal patient care, and consideration for patient's circumstances
• Complies with all applicable policies, rules and regulations as outlines by VRC, State and Federal regulations including compliance with HIPAA privacy and security.
• Ability to maintain a calm and courteous demeanor and conduct business in a professional manner.
• Ability to make independent decisions in performing procedures and works well under minimal supervision.

This is a non-exempt hourly position with possible earnings of $148k - $160k/year with a $20,000 sign-on bonus, plus relocation and travel allowance for longer commutes.
The hourly range for this role is $65/hr. to $70/hr., with daily guaranteed overtime (3-12 hour shifts) however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. This position is also eligible for a performance-based merit increase annually. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.

What You Will Do
The Nuclear Medicine (NM) and Dual Mode Single-photon Emission Computerized Tomography (SPECT) and Dual Mode Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Technologist is responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the direction/supervision of the Radiation Safety Officer and Physician Authorized Users. Assist physicians with performing and viewing of NM and PET/CT procedures by preparing and positioning patients for scanning, prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals, and operates nuclear medicine instruments, nuclear medicine imaging equipment to include SPECT, SPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging equipment. Is responsible for using radiation safety practices and performing the required quality control procedures on all nuclear medicine equipment. Procedures performed include preparation, administration, documentation and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals with strict adherence to the principles of radiation safety, the conditions of the Radioactive Materials License and all California State and Federal regulatory requirements. Assist staff with providing care to patients who have been administered radiopharmaceuticals and the safe and appropriate disposal of radioactive waste.

* Acquire and transmit the appropriate number of series and post processing reformate images determined by the type of protocol and procedure.

* Remove obstructive clothing, jewelry, implanted devices per Imaging Department Policy and procedure.
* Secure valuables and implanted devices for safekeeping.
Understand and document radiation dose parameters and how changes in the protocols affection radiation dose delivered.
* Review estimated/projected CTDI and DLP prior to scanning the patient to determine if values meet established guidelines.
* Compare scanning parameters against the pre-programmed parameters to ensure nothing has been inadvertently changed/altered.
* Document radiation doses that exceed Notification Values (NV).
* Immediately report any radiation doses that are deemed reportable as determine in department policy and procedure.
Accurately and timely transfer images from modality to PACS and/or appropriate network destinations.

* Accurately identify and annotate images and series.
* Confirm images are available in PACS for Radiologist/Clinician viewing.
Radiation Safety
RADIATION SAFETY AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS - Follow all radiation safety, State and Federal regulatory requirements and conditions of the Radioactive Material License (RAML).
Adhere to all regulatory requirements for the safe practice of NM stated in the RAML and California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 17, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 10 section 20 and 10 CFR 35.

Be required to set up radiographic suites and assure that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment and supplies are present and available.
Prepare and administer contrast material orally, by enema, or intravenously under close supervision of a radiologist, but not independently, as required.
Perform related clerical duties such as sending images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), archiving images, post processing images, and case editing of computer request and reports.
Maintain records and enter patient information using the Radiology VistA Package, and the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Job Specific Position Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Serves as a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist in a general medical and surgical hospital, independently performing complex and highly specialized CT procedures. Assists in developing, maintaining, and reviewing a quality improvement (QI) and quality control (QC) programs. May provide consultation to other medical treatment facility (MTF departments) that perform radiologic procedures but is not ultimately responsible or accountable for the final results.
• Independently makes examinations after conferring with the radiologist to establish the examination requirements. Schedules, receives, and reviews requests from physicians and other health care providers for examinations. Determines the condition(s) at issue and the procedures and equipment to best meet the needs of the individual case. Explains procedures to patient and family. Starts intravenous fluids and monitors all devices. Recognizes the significance of all structures and the differences between artifact and normal pathology. Comply with accrediting and regulatory requirements such as the American College of Radiology, Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), etc.
• Performs the full range of diagnostic CT examinations/procedures, including but not limited to: neuro, chest, abdominal, chest, pediatric, extremity, body, muscular skeletal. Selects proper technical settings and scan protocol from computer menu. Administers oral and intravenous contrast material observing Universal Precautions, as indicated by exam protocol, interview and screening process. Prints CT images on an as needed basis and processes films in automatic film processor, archives images onto MOD and with AGFA Archive system. Interviews and screens patients concerning sensitivity to contrast material. Assists radiologist in determining type and volume of I.V. contrast material to be administered. Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards to staff and patients. Evaluates CT images with radiologist to determine use of contrast or additional images. Assists radiologists during CT guided biopsy and aspiration procedures. Responsible for obtaining optimal CT images to provide the Radiologist with information to assure that an accurate diagnosis is rendered. Ensures that all patient records are complete and signed prior to examination or procedures being performed.
• Monitors equipment status indicators to prevent damage and liaisons with GE and MEDRAD for equipment maintenance. Performs daily quality control checks of CT scanner. Checks emergency equipment and drugs for missing and/or expired items.
• Contribute to identifying required improvements, recommends corrective action, works with appropriate personnel to correct deficiencies. Helps Government supervisor to investigate, evaluate, and document all QI/QA problems or actions within the department as having a significant impact on the quality of patient care.
• Assists the Government supervisor in developing quality control procedures for new radiologic examinations as they are introduced into the Radiology Department and modifies existing procedures as the need arises. Assist with formulating and maintaining record keeping in conjunction with the MQM quality assurance system in the Radiology Department. Reviews current literature for improved QI/QA/QC procedures. Participates in evaluating new protocols to determine their suitability for local use. Consults with radiology manager and Chief, Radiology in the development and implementation of the joint MDIS system.
• Observe and contribute to instructing medical, professional, and paraprofessional personnel in the theoretical and practical aspects of quality assurance and quality control in the Radiology Department as it relates to PAC systems. Conducts visits to other departments in the MTF concerning diagnostic radiology.
