Job Description
Essential Functions:
* Ensures no ferrous metal objects are taken into the scan room.
* Properly positions coil and patient to obtain the best image quality. Handles coils with care. Pads placed where necessary for patient comfort. Routes all IV lines and monitoring cables safely in and out of the magnet bore.
* Selects scanning parameters based on established protocol and on information obtained from patient history, chart, requisition, and previous exams.
* Prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual. Able to start and maintain IV lines. Documents appropriately in patients chart.
* Ensures the procedure and related supplies are billed correctly.
* Reports malfunctions to service representative by logging a service call and notifies charge technologist and/ or supervisor.
* Develops and maintains teamwork. Demonstrates willingness to learn new procedures and accepts additional responsibilities. Is on time and prepared to work scheduled hours.
* Competently works within required computer programs (i.e. PACs, RIS, Vrad) as well as manual downtime processes.
* All other duties as assigned.

Graduate - Radiology Program
Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; (ARRT)(R)(MR) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with advanced certification in MRI or Completion of MRI Registry within 12 months of hire.
Regarding BLS certification: The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

American Traveler is seeking an experienced MRITechnologist with 5+ years of recent MRI experience and ARRT(MR) certification for an acute care, Level 1 Trauma Center.
Responsibilities
Acute care setting with pediatric and adult patient populations
Work in a Level 1 Trauma Center with 3 MRI scanners
Perform studies for outpatient, inpatient, critical care, and ER cases
Equipment includes GE Explorer Lift 1.5T, GE Architect 3.0T, Siemens Espree 1.5T, and SECTRA PACS system
EPIC EMR is used in the department
Day and night rotating shifts with a mix of 8, 10, and 12 hour shifts, up to 40 hours per week
No floating required; MRI unit only
Holiday coverage may be needed
Perform MRI studies for all body parts in a variety of patient care settings
Orientation includes 3 day shifts followed by 2-3 night shifts as needed
Must wear gray scrubs
All clinicians must badge in and out of the facility
Local candidates may be considered if residing within 80 miles; local rate applies
Prior employees must have a separation of at least 6 months before consideration for rehire
Requirements
Minimum 5 years recent MRItechnologist experience
ARRT(MR) certification and BLS certification required
Proficient with Neuro, MSK, and abdominal imaging
Experience with adult and pediatric MRI studies
Experience operating GE Architect and SECTRA PACS required
Must be able to work independently

Performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures, MRI safety considerations and provides a quality patient care experience. Initiates life support measures as necessary. Interacts effectively with patients and their family members, physicians, and other health care workers. Has extensive knowledge of operation of all MRI equipment. Positions the patient and provides for comfort during the exam. Administers contrast material as required. Obtains patient history and clinical indication for MRI study. Accurately documents in patient records. Utilizes electronic medical record software for accurate scheduling and billing procedures. Possesses the ability to professionally obtain information from patients or their responsible parties, to further improve their personalized treatment and care.
On a continuum, the technologist works to develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status. Extensive knowledge of cross-section anatomy. Works well with all ages of patients.
Sites may expand job responsibilities based on the needs of the facility, to include, but not limited to: on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. Perform diagnostic radiology procedures. Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and aware of general radiology protocols. May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement.
Qualifications
Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved or Joint

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) training or experience required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) certification is required at the time of hire.
As per Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) and American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation requirements, MRI certified or certification to be obtained within two years post-hire is preferred.
