Job Overview:
Performs duties directly involved with a variety of CAT Scan procedures. Prioritizes the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a CT Technologist.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an A.M.A. approved school of Radiography Education.
Must have ARRT or CRT and State of New Jersey License.
Preferred:
Experience: Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Scheduling Requirements:
Full-Time Nights, 830p-7a, at Morris Cancer Center - New Brunswick, NJ, will also have responsibilities at University Hospital and Plum St. Imaging Center on the New Brunswick Campus. All three buildings are connected by bridge.
Essential Functions:
Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures.
Performs the preparation in order to insure the prompt commencement of the procedure.
Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.
Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents.
Protects patients and other personnel by administrating proper radiation protection techniques.
Protects the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required.
Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.
Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture.
Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Secures and returns supplies. Maintains room and room's stock.
Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated. Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service.
Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly.
Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration.
Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations.
Uses the computer system according to standard operating procedures:
Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases.
Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.
Attends in-service training as required by the department
Able to attend the majority of educational in-services.
Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures.
Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation.
Assists in the instruction of student technologists

Demonstrating competency in dealing with patients in all age categories: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric; and
Performing all other duties as required and assigned.
This full time, 40 hour per week position includes varying shift times Monday-Friday with rotating evenings & weekends. This position will provide coverage and receive training in the Toms River-Hooper Avenue, Brick, and Wall office locations.
Qualifications
Candidates for this position must be a current or upcoming graduate of AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology, Ultrasound or MRI program; registered or registry-eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). Registered ARDMS Technologists must have professional scanning experience for consideration. Current and valid American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support certification is required prior to start of employment. Must be willing to receive training and certification in venipuncture for the injection of contrast media via butterfly needle and IV catheter. In-house training will be provided. Must be willing to complete MRI Cross Training program in accordance with the Cross Training Agreement, and successfully achieve the ARRT MRI registry.

Position Overview
Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards and acts as a resource to radiography students and other technologists to ensure optimal patient care and efficient departmental operations.

Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Magnetic Resonance Imaging principles and theory, anatomy, positioning, and technique for obtaining optimal imaging studies.
Demonstrates proper protection and safety processes for patients and staff as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines pertaining to high strength magnetic fields. Demonstrates patient safety by use of guard rails, breaking mechanisms, shielding, and patient monitoring to avoid patient injury.
Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations. Assists physicians in the performance of various studies using standard department protocols and appropriate protective actions and infection control procedures.
Demonstrates excellent patient care. Recognizes clinical and emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them to produce the most desirable outcome. Understands and demonstrates the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Adheres to department policies and protocols to ensure that all studies are optimized for interpretation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiology program or graduate from an accredited MRI program. Must obtain ARRT MRI certification or ARMRIT certification within one year of hire.
Experience: Previous MRI experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Basic computer skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Explains and prepares patients for PET/CT imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately
