MSA Professional Services CEO and leadership

Gil currently serves as MSA’s CEO and sits on the board of directors. Since becoming CEO in 2013, he has focused on raising the bar for himself and everyone else at MSA. In that time, the company has undertaken a number of major improvement efforts that include the creation of 14 Communities of Practice, the incorporation of a client service initiative centered on obtaining feedback from clients, annually increasing the commitment to training and development and the implementation of a Strategic Plan that has launched new service lines and geographic expansions. Gil led the effort that allowed MSA to become 100% employee owned through the company’s ESOP in 2017, after which MSA was recognized as the Wisconsin ESOP Firm of the Year in 2018. During his time at the helm, the firm has grown from the eighth largest in Wisconsin to the third largest, and the Zweig Group has twice named MSA a “Best Firm to Work For.”

Before taking on his role as CEO, Gil designed and managed dozens of wastewater treatment projects, serving populations ranging from 250 to 25,000. Gil’s work has earned awards for innovative wastewater treatment facility projects in Wisconsin as well as for a groundbreaking design guidance manual for the Iowa DNR. He has also taught courses on wastewater treatment design for the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Engineering Professional Development program.

Gil earned both his B.S. and M.S. in civil and environmental engineering from UW-Madison and is also a graduate of the American Council of Engineering Companies’ (ACEC) Senior Executives Institute (Class 18). A licensed professional engineer in Wisconsin and Michigan, he is an active member of a number of professional and civic organizations, including ACEC Wisconsin-of which he is a past chair.

Angie brings over 20 years of experience to the role of chief financial officer and controller at MSA headquarters in Baraboo, where she leads the firm’s financial planning, management, capital structure and reporting endeavors. Her position as CFO supports the future success of MSA through the management of general accounting functions, improvement of financial and operational systems with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration, internal controls, operational efficiency, performance of due diligence, development of business partnerships and strong compliance with MSA goals, policies, legal and regulatory requirements.

Prior to MSA, Angie served as director of finance and administration at the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership as well as corporate controller for Total Administrative Services Corporation-a third-party benefits administrator in Madison, among other notable professional positions. She joined MSA in May of 2018 and is elated to be part of the executive leadership and accounting teams in support of a healthy and prosperous outlook for the firm.

A native of Rhinelander, Wis., Angie is a CPA and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as well as a master’s degree in business administration from Edgewood College in Madison, Wis.

Mike is chief operating officer and chairman of the board of directors at MSA. During his more than 25 years with the firm, Mike has been instrumental in managing and mentoring staff, providing excellent client service and expanding the transportation presence across the nation.

Clients turn to Mike for his expertise in structure, highway design and corridor studies as well as agency review coordination, public involvement and environmental documentation. In fact, he has performed structure and highway design on more than 100 bridge and highway projects and has been a project engineer on more than 50 bridge and highway constructions.

Examples of his work include a project in Madison, Wis., where he managed the design of the reconstruction of a county highway that passes through two cities and two towns to alleviate congestion and improve safety. Mike also led stakeholder involvement and provided quality assurance and quality control for the redesign of the iconic State Street in Madison.

Mike earned his B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later went on to earn his M.B.A. from Edgewood College. He is a licensed professional engineer in three states and is a certified bridge inspector in Wisconsin.
